Palo brunch....so bummed

You will be able to eat at Palo no worries!

I'm glad youre doing the brunch as you only really have three nights - and three dining halls which are all excellent.

Thanks again everyone for all the advice, we will definitely try to book once on board :)

We've always managed to get a brunch reservation on board- last year was tricky...we went on the 11 day Norway/Iceland cruise. There were several sea days so several Palo brunches but the cruise was also full of Gold and Platinum cruisers so all the brunch reservations were snapped up early. Stood in line for over an hour after boarding to try and get a reservation (on previous cruises I had to wait 10/15 mins max) only to be told the waitlist was the best they could do.....they had so many people waitlisted that they added one and possibly two more brunches on days we had late port arrival times so happily we got to have brunch with the stunning scenery of Akureyri, Iceland as a backdrop as we cruised into the port. Amazing!

Keep checking on the Palo brunch reservation. I was able to change my Palo dinner reservation (twice) a few days after I had seen lots of people were complaining about nothing being available.

We just came back from our Fantasy cruise and had brunch at Palo on the 3rd sea day. There were several empty tables. I. Sure you will get in!

Typically they don't fill all the tables at the same time. It helps with the more laid back ambiance.

Phew, thanks! I thought maybe we could but wasn't sure...checked out Remy brunch and knew right away my husband wouldn't eat anything on that menu lol
Remy is really good at accommodating, but honestly I found it a little to snooty for my taste, Palo brunch is much more laid back. And you should be able to get a reservation onboard.

We had no problem booking brunch once we got on the Fantasy and were first time cruisers

Has anyone had any luck booking once on the ship?

I have had no issues getting on the ship and booking the brunch. It is how I always have to do it because I'm not high enough on the Castaway Club food chain - yet.

Did you happen to notice what else was 'sold out' when you tried to book? Obviously, cabanas, but were there other 'high demand' things, as well?

I can only speak for meet and greets and Palo, but they went relatively fast. I am Castaway Club silver and checked in 90 days in advance.

Palo brunch was already 100% gone. :guilty: Princess Gathering was completely spent by last week (just under one month since check in) and even getting spots that late was hit or miss. I only got 1 person from my group into it - my Dad, lol. Anna and Elsa was surprisingly easy and had more availability than the Princess Gathering. Even now, over one month after check in, spaces are still available to meet Anna/Elsa (see below).

The funny thing is, I've never found Remy snooty, but that's because we don't hesitate to joke with the waiters, sommelier, maitre'd, etc. We have a great time at Remy, even if they do change out the silverware every time they change the plate.

Tried to grab a brunch reservation when I logged in for our cruise but since we are first timers there were none available, we really were looking forward to this! Has anyone had any luck booking once on the ship?

You should absolutely be able to get something. We have never had a problem even booking a last minute reservation onboard. Once, while my family sat at the embarkation lunch, I ran up to Palo, got a reservation and back to lunch. Also people cancel during the week. I know they usually keep a waitlist.

We were first timers, as well. The day I really wanted for brunch was totally booked when I first looked. On a whim- I looked a month later and it was wide open. What? So keep looking online too.

Princess Gathering was completely spent by last week
So at 90 days you were not able to book the princesses? Or it didn't appear that first timers could? I'm clearly worried about tears from a small person in my house if we can't do it this time.

At 90 days (Castaway Club silver), I could book the Princess Gathering and had a reservation for myself, daughter and husband. The times were limited at that point, but there was availability.

My parents are not silver members and could not check into the cruise until 75 days out.

At 75 days, I wanted to add them to my Princess Gathering time slot but was unable to. The website showed availability but I kept getting errors when I booked (it also canceled my original reservation so I lost that too, arghhh). I called DCL and they advised it was because we were 5 people but only 2 spaces were available. Since then I have not been able to get all of us onto a reservation.

I've been keeping an eye on the website to see if any additional times pop up, but no luck yet. All times were completely 100% gone last week which is approx. 60ish days to sailing.

How soon in advance do you check in? I would recommend two things:

1) Book this under "Onboard fun" before doing anything else if you are worried
2) Do not change your reservation time once you have one (since DCL inadvertently canceled mine when I tried updating mine)

Lastly, don't stress. It'll happen.

Thanks for the clarification. We are Silver, so hopefully we will be ok.

Yes, it will all work out. If nothing else, we can go see them individually. The gathering is always fun though.

Yep, have done it twice. Just walked on up while my family was eating embarkation lunch in cabanas and made brunch reservations. They had several times available.

Sorry, :offtopic: slightly, but this type of thread makes me very excited about booking our stuff next year -- our first year platinum. We shall see if it is easier and faster since so many people are turning platinum anymore ;)
