Palo and THAT dessert

There are some really great little eateries in Myrtle Beach! My best friend lives there and whenever we visit she takes us to the neatest places!

I have to agree with you there....I go for the food.....

Hello all,

Just returned from US this morning after topping off the 10/22/05 cruise in fine style at the Grand Floridian. All I can say at this point is that Disney really do know how to look after their guests. I can only describe the whole Disney experience as awesome.

Now to the point of this particular thread. At the risk of getting flamed, all I can say about the fabled Palo Souffle is - overated! There, I have said it, now I feel a little better.

LOL, we think like you, the choc souffle is highly over rated and actually one of the least enjoyable desserts on the Palo menu. All the others are so much better than that souffle.

I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a glitch over at DCL. Do they always have Palo brunch available on Key West day since the Western has one less at sea day than the Eastern?

Yes, Palo Brunch is available on Key West day since the ship usually arrives there around 12:00pm. Palo Brunch is available that day from 10-11:30am.

The chocolate souffle haunts my dreams! I love all things chocolate and it is at the top of my list. I can't wait to enjoy it again!

Yes that is also considered a sea day for the character breakfast as well, so 1/3 of the ship will have that to attend before docking at KW too.

I liked the chocolate souffle best when we tried it on our first Disney cruise. It's still good, but I actually think from the standpoint of a souffle the Grand Marnier souffle at Lumiere's is better...it's lighter and has a more subtle flavor.

Now, if you really want to talk souffle, the best I've ever had is the bread pudding souffle at Commanders Palace in New Orleans...they serve it with whiskey cream sauce...quite possibly the best dessert I've ever had, and I don't even really like bread pudding!

The reason I ask, is as Mary said, I don't really care for the souffle. But I also can't stand dark, and don't really have a taste for semi-sweet. Got to be full on 100% Hershey's regular chocolate. And I suspect that may be why I don't care for the souffle at all.



And as a Chicagoan, don't get me started on that....pizza.

Phyllis--my DW's hubby would enjoy that, but my DW said she would have to come along as well!!!

I've never had the souffle at Palo, because we have only had the brunch at Palo, maybe one of these cruises, we'll make it to Palo for dinner.

I am suprised that I even had room for dessert, the way Marco kept bringing out food on our Oct 15th cruise, but we both ordered the souffle, and then Marco brings us two MORE desserts!
The panna cotta and tiramasu. The panna cotta was excellent!

And I was nice and did not call him Marco - Palo although I really wanted to

Oh yea, we've seen the two of you pack it away!!!

We've really enjoyed our two brunches at Palo, and we enjoy going to our regualar dining room each night for dinner, so we might just pass on the Palo dinner. I've also heard more people say they enjoy the brunch over dinner as well.

Or as others on the board have recently informed the masses, one could skip dinner at Palo altogether (if you so chose) and get the soufle at the Palo bar instead! I will be giving this a try on my upcoming January cruise.

My vacation is a family event for dinner every night so Palo just isn't in the cards this trip (for dinner, DH and I are doing the brunch), but soufle is one of my all-time favorite foods so I must hunt some down.

I've heard many people rave about it, but wanted to ask, how does it compare to the chocolate soufle at California Grille in the Contemporary Resort at WDW?

I just got back from my second cruise on the Magic. We did go to Palo again and did enjoy the souffle, but I think the Chocoloate Lava Cake on the semi-formal night menu is just about as good (it is richer), so I'd settle for either. I actually changed my Palo reservation because it was scheduled for the semi-formal night and I didn't want to miss the Lava cake.

If the souffle you had was anything like the one we had at Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, then I agree with you wholeheartedly....OVERRATED! I only bring it up bc people talk about how great their souffle is....
