Just received a flyer in the mail from Verizon and was wondering if anyone has this phone Palm Pre Plus? Need a new phone and am interested in Droid, Iphone, and want to see how this one compares. Verizon and At&T will cost the same for me, and the coverage is pretty much equal so now I just need to pick a phone...:cool1:

I just looked at, and got, a new phone yesterday. My work software previously only supported Palms so I went to look at the Palm Pre. It's a nice phone but my son has a Droid and it is a much better phone. I ended up with a Blackberry Curve 2 because now my company supports Blackberry and are phasing out Palms. I wanted a Droid but they don't support those.

I have the Pre through Sprint. I HATE this phone. It is so sensitive to just about anything. I have had my phone since last July and have had to have it replaced 4 times. This is the first time ever in my long, long history (think phones that resembled bricks as my first phone) that I have ever had to have a phone replaced, so I don't think it is me. But now I have had to have this one replaced every 1.5 months.

My kids have the Android phones. I would definitely recommend the Droid over the Pre.

Make sure you are prepared to pay the Verizon data charges to have this phone.

What is the difference between the Droid and the Droid Eris?

Android is the operating system that is running on both phones. It is the equivalent of Windows on a PC. The Motorola Droid phone is running Android 2.0 (or 2.0.1 after update). The Eris is a phone made by HTC that is running Android 1.5. The differences are here. The Eris will be getting either 2.0 or 2.1 from what I have read but there is no telling how well it will run it.

I think the form factor of the HTC is better but the Motorola phone is a better overall phone. Go into the store and play with them and see which you like best.

For what it is worth I would not buy any smart phone that runs any OS other then Android. The Palm Pre was a good idea that was executed terribly. I believe that Palm will cease to exist in the near future, at least as it is now. It is too valuable to disappear but it will be bought and rolled into another company. Because of this I don't see the webOS platform (webOS is the OS for the Pre).

Since platform development is important I would not risk buying a platform that is going to stall.
