Palio with children???

Does anyone know if they have a children's menu at dinner? How appropriate would it be for our two ds's (ages 4 and 7)? Is it more of an adult place or do they cater to kids at all?? Any info on this restaurant would be appreciated -- it looks like such a nice place and I'd love to try it our first night if you all recommend it, as we'll be staying at the Dolphin!

We were there with a 7 yr. old a couple of years ago and they had a real nice childrens menu. She got the pizza, which was a real nice size (I had a little slice). Our waiter treated her like a little princess and we had a beautiful dinner. It's not entertaining such as a character meal or some other interactive meal but it's a wonderful place for a family meal.

It's probably more "adult friendly" than some other spots, but we've always seen children every time we've eaten there.
The strolling muscians (if they should happen to stop at your table) are well equipped with a # of childrene songs--last time out, we heard them play "My Favorite Things" to a child at the adjacent table. Then they played some Sinatra tunes for us!!

We were thinking that this sounded like the perfect place for our first dinner and you both have confirmed it! My mom, who won't be arriving until 7 or so that evening, loves Italian food and we didn't want to have to venture too far from the hotel with the kiddies... Do you guys have any specific recommendations for entrees that you've tried and enjoyed??

Uncleromulus from reading your posts I believe this menu question is right up your alley! I ALWAYS order the Fettuccine Alfredo. Everything looks so good going to the other tables and on the menu, but I love the Fettuccine so much there that I always just get that and with a small appetite I can't finish that so I don't dare order something else to go with it. If you are adventureous after dinner you could take grandma and ds's up to the room then go back to Kimono's for coffee and karoke! It's just off the lobby so you'd be close if they needed you. We had fun watching people sing.

The folks at Palio are definitely as attentive to kids as adults. My ds loves the place - we've been going for almost 5 years now. Their individual pizzas are great, they have a good kid menu AND will smaller size just about any pasta on the menu for your child.

we love their salads, the gnocci appetizer, the lobster crepe appetizer, the pizzas and anything fish. can't comment on the desserts because we are always too full to try - and their breads, oh my, kiss your diet good bye!

my ds (11) and I will be there on the 27th and can't wait!

You can also order "half portions" of a lot of the items on the adult menu for the kids.

We almost always split one of the wood-fired pizza's as an appetizer.

For entree's (my spelling may not be correct on these) I usually get the Saltimbocca (veal and sage) or the Picotta Milanese (pork tendrloin) Mrs U always orders one of the 3-4 different fish entrees they have on the menu.

As you can see, not exactly a spaghetti and meatballs sort of place.

I may be the minority voice here, but I didn't enjoy our family dinner at Palio's. We were drawn there by the DVC discount & went about three yrs. ago (& haven't been back). While they had a children's menu, I felt that there little signs that this is an adult's restaurant. Youngest DS doesn't drink soda or juice. They couldn't make chocolate milk & served him his milk in a stem (high spill potential). The children's menu was fine, but I remeber being shocked at the price for his dessert, which was ice cream. I think it was more than this dinner.
We arrived for the earliest dinner seating & the staff almost seemed surprised by our prompt, early arrival. By the time we left, the restaurant was filled with large "business" groups. My DH & I liked, but didn't luv our meals, so we won't return to Palio's for a family meal any time soon.

Perhaps it's changed for the better since you were there a few years ago, however... I hope so!
