Palin Promises Advocacy For Special Needs Children!!!

Palin announced tonight that she promises to be an advocate for special needs children!!!!

She had my vote before, but this touched me deeply - way to go Palin, we need someone like you!

I am sure Palin has the best of intentions. She does have vested interest in special needs children since her 4 month old has Downs. I would say this will definately be something in her mind since she is new to special needs parenting....


Its not like she is any joe schmoe politician off the street mentioning special needs kids. She has one! Thats good in my book.

I did not watch the speech, but I will take it seriously when it is a plank in the platform with a $$$ number committed to it. Other than that it is just rhetoric and maybe some potential future consideration.

Obama's platform talks about special needs children as well, and spefically mentions autism.

We'll get a lot more funding for special needs kids out of a Democrat than a Republican.

I believe it is one thing to say you care about special needs issues, it's another thing when you live it every day. It's one thing to manufacture a statement when asked; it's another to make a specific point, in a situation where it wasn't necessary, to reach out to a very deserving but fairly ignored segment of America. I believe that you don't really get it til you walk in the shoes. And I think it's bigger than party affiliation.

plus even though she is a new mom of a ds son
her sister has a 13 yo son with autsim so she sees the effects and how school and therapy helps or hurts depending on the funding school system etc..

so hopefully she has seen all the trials and tribulations

I'm in the "Wait and See" camp. If she does do it, then more power to her; but if she doesn't, then I won't be mad. She just said all the right things, and that is what makes a president in today's world.

I am the skeptic here. Advocacy is talking but what guarantee will there be that government, congress and even the local politician will actual do anything. I have heard people talk the talk but get mowed down and stymied to where nothing is done.

I hope she does get some where with her advocacy but will not be disappointed.
