I keep reading about pal Mickey. Then I saw that at one site, they say you cannot rent them any more, only buy them out right. my problem is I have 2 kids, and both want one. They are expensive! $60 each! Does anyone here have one that can tell me if they are worth the money? Can you hear it without putting it up to your ear? s it loud enough? What 3 games do they play ones you leave DW? My son is 10. Will he enjoy it? He wants one, but it seems so chinsy to me. Any advice? Also, they sell them on ebay. IF I found a used one at an ok price, would it still work in DW? Thanks

We bought one last March, my son was 9. We really had a great time with it. My daughter was 6 at the time, and they were fine with sharing it. It was a little difficult to hear when we were in a crowded part of the parks, but he was great in Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I highly recommend!

We rented one last year for a day. We thought the kids would love it, and they thought he was cute, but my DH and I were the ones who gave Mickey most of the attention! We could all hear him fine, but our kids were only 4 & 5 and there was so much going on around them, they were never sure where the noise was coming from. We loved that it would tell us when there were short lines at popular rides and remind us when (and where, if I remember correctly) to line up for the parade, etc. Since we are DVC members, I might consider buying one, I know we'll be back a lot, but not sure if I'd buy it for play value outside the park. There are lots of other toys that will do the same things. He was very cute, very soft and clipped easily to belts or lanyards, but my DH wore him most of the day to ensure we didn't miss anything. He was also sort of big for my tiny kids.

Now if it would wake up in Minnesota in the winter and say, "Hey, APs rates are being announced today!" now that would be worth the money!

I forgot to say that the kids were fine sharing it, since whoever had it had the responsibilty of notifying everyone else what he said. They loved that at first, but were ready to trade after about an hour.

I just bought one off of Ebay for around $47 with shipping. My two girls will share. I really don't think you need two. Just let them take turns.

I want a Pal Mickey. (grumble grumble) But the rest of my family thinks they're silly. I may just buy one anyway - and not let them play with it.

When do the new models come out?

I also bought one on Ebay for around $40 with shipping, new in the box. Of course after I received it, I heard about the new ones coming out in May. But the old one is still supposed to work, so I think I've gotten a good deal for $40.
