Has anyone bought a Pal Mickey? Are they really worth the money? I have a 4 year old son. I have read about them and thought it might keep him entertained standing in line, but is it worth the money?

I've been wondering about these too. What do they really do anyway?

Pal Mickey is an interactive toy, and everyone has their own opinions about them, a lot of people with kids swear by them. Basically, the technology built into Pal Mickey (a transmitter/receiver, maybe?) allows Mickey to "talk" to you inside the parks, telling you about wait times for rides, reminding you that parades/shows are going to be starting, etc. He also has the ability to tell jokes, etc., so he's good for entertainment while waiting in line. Of course when you get him home, while he won't be telling you that the 3:00 parade is about to start, he will still tell jokes, stories, etc.

Current versions of Pal Mickey (dressed as a sorcerer, I believe this is version 3.0) run $65 at the parks, though sometimes you can find a gently loved one on ebay for less. You can also get "clothes" for Pal Mickey at Disney -current outfits include a pirate costume, and raingear (among others) and if you happen to be there during Christmas, a Santa outfit! Those cost about $10-12 each.

HTH!

We bought one for our last trip. While I did enjoy having him, I don't think we'll take him again. He's mildly entertaining, and not really helpful. We got lots of jokes out of him and very little useful information at all.

Yes, my DD(12) loves her Pal Mickey & brings him on every trip. I plan on buying one for DS (2) when he goes to Disney in Nov. too because I know he will want one when he sees his big sister with one. He tells corny jokes, tells you facts about the parks & attractions, & will let you know if a parade or other special event is coming soon in the area you are in. You can also buy him different outfits (DD REALLY loves this  ) We think he is pretty cool :thumbsup2

We purchased a Pal Mickey this past December and my 3 children loved him. He traveled the whole magical world with us and is in every picture. The only negative about Pal Mickey is that you have to carry him around or hang him from something. I was always checking for him like I checked for my chldren. "Where's Pal Mickey? and Who has Pal Mickey?"

We thought he was great, but my children are a little older. My dd8 and ds11 probably got the most enjoyment out of him. They were very interested in what he had to say about the parks, parades, and attractions. My younger ds6 liked him, but he was more interested in his jokes and games. My children would difinitely recommend Pal Mickey!

Our Pal Mickey has been to the park many more times than we have. We always try to lend him to friends when they go. We have the original version and he is getting a little dirty but he still tells jokes and tells limited info about the parks.

I purchased him from an outlet in Florida from a link I saw on the DIS so he was really cheap.

When we were in wdw in 2004 we bought the first pal mickey and my 2dd then aged 10yrs and 7yrs they had one each as a surprise and loved him. When we returned in 2006 they had version 2 and 2dd aged 12yrs and 9yrs and then new addition ds11/2yrs loved this one even more because they were able to dress him in different out fits there was raincoat and hat, magic hat and gown , safari outfit . They are great to play with even when not in the parks because the kids can play
games that are programed in to pal mickey.
I thought they were great value for money and a really good keepsake.

We bought my son a Pal Mickey when in WDW in October, he was just over 3 1/2 yrs old. My dh had more fun with him than my son did. I think that he was just a little too young for it at the time. That being said, we are going back the first week of Dec and Pal Mickey will be going with us. There are a few 'bad' things about Pal Mickey....1) he has to be facing out to work, 2) he goes off ALL the time lol, 3) he is expensive (I consider $65 for a ten inch stuffed animal (which is basically what he is) expensive) so you are constantly wondering where Mickey is...as the pp said when doing a head count for your children, you add him in lol. If I hadn't of purchased him last trip, I would have done so this one. In hindsight (it is always 20-20 right?) I think I should have waited until this trip when he will be almost 5.

I think I loved Pal Mickey more than my kids did!! He is coming back with me in a few weeks and will come back with our whole family this summer. (Probably sporting a new outfit!!)
