Can anyone tell me if you can purchase a pal Mickey, anywhere besides the parks, and resorts? I would really like to purchase one before we left for our upcoming vacation. Sorry if this has been asked a lot in the past my search is not working. Thanks!

Disney World Merchandising is 1-407-363-6200.

Call, and they can ship you a Pal of your own.

Got mine on.... Yup you guessed it! EBAY! Saved $15 too!!!

There are two models of PM (and they both work in all parks).

PM "Classic" (that's what I call MINE).

PM "50th Anniversay Special Edition" (newer version). He comes dressed in a TUXEDO.

If the ones you see on eBay are NOT dressed in a tuxedo, they are the older "classic" version.

The older PM's where $50 when new (but where heavily discounted when the newer ones came out, say, to below $20) but they are not available from Disney anymore.

The 50th Anniversay PM's are about $70 now at WDW.

But there is not really a LOT of difference between them, except:

New PM talks a bit louder.

New PM can describe the few newer attractions that weren't open when the "classic" PM was first introduced. (Not a big deal.)

New PM has a slightly larger "library" of things he can say (and sing!)

>>>

Which brings up the awkward little point that the "high-dollar" ($70+) "New" 50th Anniversary "Special Edition" Pal Mickey's will soon be...
"Out of date".

The 50th will be over in Oct. this year.
So... will there be a NEW "New" Pal Mickey issued?

Will the 50th Anniversary Pal be able to "tell you" about the two new "Finding Nemo" attractions, the new Monsters, Inc. attraction(s), or the new things we still don't know about?

Will we soon see the 50th Anniversary Pals at the Disney Outlets for $23 or so?

I still have (and use every trip) my beloved "Classic" (first version) Pal Mickey (he still works great, BTW).
I never thought that him not "knowing" about "Soarin'" or "EE" was quite enough reason to replace him.

But, we'll have to see what the next couple of months bring that's new on the Pal Mickey front.

I am also curious to see if they have a new one out for our November trip!

We also have the Classic version which I purchased on Ebay right before our Christmas trip, about $20. I dressed him in Christmas finery, and his merry chatter was great thru the parks. I would guess we took him with us about half the time. I would probably not upgrade, although we have enjoyed his nonsense!

Oh, I could be persuaded to buy the new version, if he did a few more things
such as:

-Dispense Fast Passes.

-Make meal reservations 30 minutes in advance.

-Fire his own Buzz Lightyear Laser blasts (extra points if you hit Emperor Zurg).

-Clear an extra-wide space on Main Street for parade-viewing 10 minutes before start-time.

-Provide instant access to ride in the monorail operator's cabin.

-Grab the attention of the CM in charge of finding "Honorary Parade Marshall Families."

-Locate "front and center" last-minute seating at Fantasmic! (on nights when the wind is blowing AWAY from the audience).

-Provide speedy half-empty bus-trips to your resort (at closing time) from all parks.

-Escort you to the mostly empty "E-Ticket" attractions at evening EMH's.

-And make ANY mug a "free refills for your entire stay" mug that works in any WDW establishment.

Now, THATS a Pal Mickey!

Mouse Surplus has a bunch of Pal Mickeys in their warehouse. I think most of them are the "classic" one though.

That's what DH has me for!! :rotfl:
