Got mine on.... Yup you guessed it! EBAY! Saved $15 too!!!
There are two models of PM (and they both work in all parks).
PM "Classic" (that's what I call MINE).
PM "50th Anniversay Special Edition" (newer version). He comes dressed in a TUXEDO.
If the ones you see on eBay are NOT dressed in a tuxedo, they are the older "classic" version.
The older PM's where $50 when new (but where heavily discounted when the newer ones came out, say, to below $20) but they are not available from Disney anymore.
The 50th Anniversay PM's are about $70 now at WDW.
But there is not really a LOT of difference between them, except:
New PM talks a bit louder.
New PM can describe the few newer attractions that weren't open when the "classic" PM was first introduced. (Not a big deal.)
New PM has a slightly larger "library" of things he can say (and sing!)
>>>
Which brings up the awkward little point that the "high-dollar" ($70+) "New" 50th Anniversary "Special Edition" Pal Mickey's will soon be...
"Out of date".
The 50th will be over in Oct. this year.
So... will there be a NEW "New" Pal Mickey issued?
Will the 50th Anniversary Pal be able to "tell you" about the two new "Finding Nemo" attractions, the new Monsters, Inc. attraction(s), or the new things we still don't know about?
Will we soon see the 50th Anniversary Pals at the Disney Outlets for $23 or so?
I still have (and use every trip) my beloved "Classic" (first version) Pal Mickey (he still works great, BTW).
I never thought that him not "knowing" about "Soarin'" or "EE" was quite enough reason to replace him.
But, we'll have to see what the next couple of months bring that's new on the Pal Mickey front.
