Hi all- Is a Pal Mickey worth it for a childless couple? Like will it tell helpful hints and such? Thanks in advance!

I bought a used Pal Mickey for $25.00 just for me (no kids), and I really enjoyed listening to what it had to tell me. It was well worth the $25.00 I spent, but I don't think it would have been worth $60.00 or $70.00. After a while it kind of became a nusance to lug around. I wish they would make them smaller (maybe something that could be pinned on to your shirt) and cheaper, because I really did think it was fun to have.

My sister and my friends (all in our 30's) teased me about buying it and carrying it around, but then everytime he had something to say, they would all be saying "What did he say?", "Let me listen to it".

Can you still rent him by the day? Last year you could, and if you wanted to keep him they would apply the $ towards his purchase. A used one is a better deal if you want him for more than a day or two, I guess.

I liked him for the first 3 hours or so in each park. After that I had to turn him off because he kept telling my kids about parades we were skipping in favor of a nap...

HA! We bought one for our kids and we were all trying to hear what he had to say! I still play with him now that we're home....I mean the kids play with him still.

I'd say no- the jokes and games are hardly enough to entertain my 8 yr old they're so lame. I don't remember ever getting any "useful" info out of him at a park, either. One time he told us there was a really short line at Buzz Lightyear and it turned out to be 25 minutes- not my idea of short.

You can't rent them anymore, either.

We thought it was really cute! Although it repeated the jokes a lot. Well I'm 13 and have almost a 9 yr old twin brother and sister.

I would say no. DH and I are the commando type when it comes to the parks. We borrowed Pal Mickey from MIL and we were amused for 5 seconds, then we just found him annoying.

i got a pal mickey on our last trip. i loved carrying him around but he got quite annoying telling all those jokes so many times. he went off during the muppet 3-D show just to tell me a joke in the end. he is cute but the jokes get a little old after hearing them 1000 times a day.

Hi Kittychatalog!

I travel with 2 ladies and we all have had our PM1s on the last 3 trips. Our next trip will be the 1st with our new PM2s and the plan is to also take PM1 too. Not sure how often PM1 will make it into the parks on our next trip because of lugging 2 but we'll give it a try.

His jokes and games are very child friendly and cute. He's no high-ticket comedian but after a stressful day I will walk by mine and press one of their hands to get a joke or quiz, that little voice tends to perk me up. :) He is quite the little mascot for our group and even at home gets into the pictures.

At the parks we all have a bag/backpack that is big enough to hold a Pal so when he becomes to much on the neck from a lanyard or just generally tired of having him bouncing around, in he goes into his bag for a "nap"

He does have quite a following but like everything else is not for everyone's taste. Give him a look-see when your at the parks. Usually I'd be more glowing about him but I'm still 1/2 asleep, apparently i need stronger coffee ;)

They no longer let you rent the Pal Mickey. I think he ranges from $60-$70 dollars. If you don't mind having a used one people sell them on Ebay.

I was more interested in listening to him then my children were. He told me all sorts of interesting things about all the parks.

Obviously you are getting a range of answers because everyone's tastes are different.

For us, DH and I absolutely loved him. He told us about parade times and places, and facts about the attractions or land we were on. Yes, he told a few too many puns. But I couldn't imagine going back inside the parks without him.

Thank you all for the input. Turns out we will be joined by one of my girfriend's and her TWO KIDS!!! Yipee! So now I have a good excuse for PM, although I will probably end up having to buy one for each kid, lol! TY All

I say yes. I splurged and bought one for myself. I went with a big group of people, and the adults were more interested in it than the kids. Most of the people I saw that had Pal Mickeys were adults. Sometimes he's hard to hear, and when he shakes you have to press his tummy rather quickly, but in all it's worth it. Yes, the jokes are corny, but I guess that's part of the charm!

We bought one for our ds! :cool1: But, my dh is the one that played with it the most! :rotfl:
