How do you go about having a Pal Mickey ready and waiting for you in your room? Is it even possible? Do I call the resort? We will be at the Old Key West and would love to have one waiting to welcome my little princess. I looked at Gifts of a Lifetime. They are $65.00. I never saw where you can have it delivered to the room. I thought Disney might do it without charging extra? Leaving in 16 days. Also, what is the word on a Pal Minnie?

I don't think they will place it in the room when you first arrive. Maybe after you check in they could do it. What happens if you change rooms at the front desk? They sell them in the gift shop cheaper than that. Why not have one of you buy it there and make an excuse to put it in the room?

I ordered one to be waiting for us through Sugar Loaf concierge at the GF this year. In spite of being told that this would be taken care of, it wasn't there when we got there :( . We ended up buying him at the resort shop- he's not hard to find, you'll see him advertised everywhere. I think we paid around $49 for him.

2 weeks ago, I had one placed in our room at AKL (not concierge) for our arrival with no problems. I called guest services the day before our arrival- they already had our credit card on file, and Pal Mickey was waiting in the room when we got there. He was $50 (tax included).
One note about Pal Mickey---- He didn't come with any instructions- so there we were , walking around MK waiting for him to talk to us- and all he would say was "Hi, I'm Mickey" and "See that building in front of you - that's the Haunted mansion" (No matter where we were in the park) - so finally around noon I took him to a gift shop, and lo-and-behold, there's an on/off switch in the zippered compartment on his back- Boy, did I feel like an idiot- Guess I just assumed that since he was talking to me, he was already "on". Oops!!! I don't know if he was supposed to come with instructions or not- but it would have been nice to know a few things (like if you squeeze both his hands, he plays games with you) , and when he giggles you are supposed to push one of his hands or his tummy to get him to tell you what he wants to tell you (It's not neccessarily automatic)- and that he'll repeat his info up to 5 times so other people in your party can hear it (if you push his hand/tummy again within a minute I believe). Live and learn! Jill

Pal Mickey has an instruction book in the box somewhere... he is hard to get out of the box though... all those twist tie thingys.

I haven't heard anything about Pal Minnie... but I did hear they were going to start selling a Pal Mickey rain poncho... it is fitted yellow Disney Poncho and will cover him when you are walking around the parks in the rain. :)

>>^..^<<

So, we can activate the little guy ourselves by the on/off switch? I'm bringing one for a surprise for my son, and will slip it into our room during the check-in process while he's otherwise occupied, but I was wondering how to get it "activated" so it will give all the great park info and such, and thought that this had to be done by a CM?

Hopefully, the way I read your post, I can just turn on that switch to do the trick?

Thanks,
Kimberly

We stayed at the Contemporary's 12 floor concierge in May and I asked a couple weeks prior to our arrival if we could have a Pal Mickey in our room waiting for when we arrived with our daughter. He was there along with a couple cute little surprises for our daughter (we were only charged for Pal Mickey). They had him set up on a table still in his box :D.

BurleyGirl- I don't know if it needs to be activated or not- The Gift shop guy turned on the switch, then put it next to some sort of computer thingie in his drawer and hit a switch in that- that maybe activates it? When we got Pal Mickey - he was still in his box, and I looked for instructions, but didn't see any... best bet is to ask the CM who sells it to you! Jill

If you need the box to take Pal Mickey home in, make sure it is hidden out of sight in your hotel room. The maid threw out my Pal Mickey box, instructions and receipt because I had left it on the floor with my shoes  I had planned repacking him in the box to take him home. I also needed the receipt for customs. I had planned on showing him to some kids but without the instructions I don't know how to activate the games. UGH.

Once you are outside of Disney property, what does Pal Mickey do (other than look cute!)?
Also, are there any stores online to buy Pal Mickey, or is he only available at the resorts?

You can buy Pal Mickey thru Gifts of a lifetime

http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/shopping.html

For $65 (normally $50), and have him shipped to your house. I've never used them, but others have -

Pal Mickey still tells jokes at home, (albeit, really bad ones mostly), and plays games ---- (Try pressing his 2 hands at the same time - he'll give you a menu of games to play with him). Jill
