Pal Mickey Upgrades

We bought a Pal Mickey in 2004 and I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can get them upgraded so they recognise new rides and attractions etc. Has anyone else heard of this? Any ideas how it can be done and where

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that as long as you have PM out when you go through the gates to each park he will automatically update

He should update at the front gates at each park, make sure his nose is facing straight forward and switched on that's where the mechanics are to get the transmission of data to upgrade him. If you have any problems there's usually a shop in each park that you can take him in to (ask a CM) and they can usually update him (no fee) right there but it may take 5 or 10 minutes then you'll be good to go

thanks for this info, we are taking our Pal back to wdw next month and i was a little concerned that he wouldn't be up-to-date as it's been 2 years since we bought him!

are other outfits still available for them? i think ours needs a new one this trip

Mousegears in Epcot and the Emporium in MK had outfits for him as well as some of the shops in DHS and a couple of the shops in the Oasis area in AK so you should be able to find some. Remember to check the gift shop at your hotel they sometimes have different ones to the shops in the parks.

Ooh, I like the idea of new outfits and I know my daughter will too (she is the real owner of the Pal Mickey - honestly ).

I will have to try pointing his nose out as I walk through and see what happens (keep an eye out for some strange woman waving a Pal Mickey in the air!!!!)

I was looking at info on these earlier. What exactly do they do? Are they just a normal toy as soon as you leave the parks?

Are they worth the money to buy them? They sound fun!

i would definitely recommend a Pal Mickey!

yes, when you're away from the parks, he will tell jokes and play games - you can turn the battery off too so that it won't run out (i turned mine back on last week, to check he was ok before our next trip!). you activate him buy squeezing his hand.

i read another review once that compared a Pal to a Sat-Nav or Tumble Dryer... once you have one you can't remember what you did before!! He definitely 'plussed' our last vacation, and the CMs will often wave at him or shake his hand when you're in the parks!!
