Pal Mickey Updating

Now this question might have been previosuly asked and I am sorry if i am copying it but this question has been bothering me for awhile and I just can't find an answer. Okay well last time me and my family went to Disney we still had the original Pal Mickey and were debating on getting the new one but decided not to and just update the Pal Mickey. Now my question is : when you update the Pal Mickey does it do anything?? I remember the first time we went down they updated the PM and in this machine behind the desk and said we could do it the next time too ( we updated it in every park) but then the next time we went down a CM at Epcot said they didnt do that anymore but a CM at MK said they still did. So has anyone else updated their PM or know if it works? and if it doesnt work is it worth it to buy a new one ??

I'd like to know this too. I recently bought an older version of MPM through Character Premier. Got a good price, but now I'm worried I've spent my money for nothing!

BTW-Where did you get him updated? What did they do and how long did it take?

It is my understanding that as long as mickey is on when you go through the turnstiles at the park that he automatically updates but I cant confirm that it is true because mine still seems to tell the same old stories,jokes,etc. I would be interested in knowing this too.

I'd definitely like to find out too. We bought one several years ago, but haven't brought it on any of our recent trips. Wonder if it would be worth taking on our next trip to see if Mickey says anything new.
