We recently purchased a Pal Mickey at WDW. Does anyone know if there's any programming on the ship that will make him talk like at WDW??

Thanks,

Joanne

Sorry but there is no programming on the ship as of yet for pal mickey. We just came back in May.

i heard that they were going to install programming for pal mickey does anyone know if this is true, also do you think it will be done in oct. we cruise in december and i was going to purchase pal mickey when we go to wdw after the cruise, but if the cruise ships will be programmed for pal mickey then i will have to purchase him before we leave.

i really dont know the answer, but here is something to think about.... if the ships are programed for my pal mickey, then you would prob be able to buy him on the ships. that way u wouldnt have to go and buy him before your cruise.

i sure hope they program the ships in dry dock! we are cruising in nov:D

I purchased a Pal Mickey on ebay to take with us on our trip in September. We are going to WDW first. I know he could be purchased at the parks, but I wanted my ds to be able to take him on the plane and play with him during the flight.

I can't wait to see how this thing works :-)

i didn't think of that disneyfreakk. It would be really nice to have it work on the ship too.

We love our pal Mickey! He was so much fun in the parks giving interesting information. I know many people think his jokes are corny but we think he's funny!

I'm not cruising until February so I hope they have the ship set up for him by then. We would love to be able to use him again in a Disney setting!!

I agree! Pal Mickey is a lot of fun. We have taken him to WDW with us several times in the Year since we bought him. He updates every time we take him back through one of the entrys of each park and has always given us new information on the attractions.
We were just on the 8/8 Wonder. It would be really great if the ship was wired for him also.
His jokes are very corny but we always repeat them for the entire family to hear at least once. My 23 yr old DD keeps stealing him from me in the parks!

Pal Mickey?? Sorry to be so ignorant-- but I have to know what this is!!!

Pal Mickey is an oversized plush with a receiver inside that gives you info about things at WDW. He also tells very corny jokes, and you can play a couple games also.

At first, he had to be manually updated, but now if you have him turned on when you go through the entrance to each park, he updates automatically.

Usually, he knows what park he's in and will give you parade times, character greeting times, etc. Occasionally, he hiccups and tells you about parades at a different park, but he's usually very reliable. He shakes and giggles so you know to squeeze his hand and he'll tell you his spiel. I guess its especially great on the safari, but he didn't wake up the time I took him.

In addition to DCL, I'd like info on the different resorts, too. I'd love useless info such as total number of rooms, restaurants, etc.

You can purchase or rent, purchase price is ~ $60. I wonder if the transmitters would interrupt navigation on the DCL, though. Like using electronic equip on planes can only be used at certain times.

Yea, I really think;) that a gameboy would bring down a plane -- NOT. I think for the airlines its really a safety think. Get as much stuff put away so in case of emergency during take offs and landings that there would be less stuff flying through the cabins. If the planes are so sensitive to the minor electronic radiation from all of the electronic gadgets we carry on board, all terrorists would have to do is place "large" electronic signal radiating devices in their carryons and turn them on.

OK, back on topic - with all of the electronic equipment that is throughout the ship, adding a few transmitters won't cause a bit of problem with the ships operations/navigation. Think of all of the computers, sound equipment, theater equipment, etc that currently is operating on the ship without causing any problems along with all of the gadgets we as passengers bring on board without any problems.

Unfortunately Pal Mickey does not give extra informtion on the cruise, but you can still play with him. My pal Mickey went on the cruise with different outfits. I am actually starting a scrapbook about Pal Mickey's adventures! Can't put them on the board though...don't have the capability. Anyway, Pal Mickey made a great companion and conversation piece. He is having a "golden Mickey's " tuxedo made for him as we speak. The next time he goes on board he will be ready! This year he only had a black set of tails and top hat to wear on formal night. Adults, kids and the servers talked about Pal Mickey and wanted to know what he was wearing that day. I really am a kid at heart, and my family just tolerates my antics with Pal Mickey. I would love him to giggle and shake on the cruise! I heard that eventually there will be a Pal Stitch, Pal Donald and Pal Minnie....don't know if that is true or a wiseful rumor.

Is there not someone at Disney we can talk to about this??? What a great thing for the cruise!

luvalldisney -

Do you make Mickey's costumes yourself? How cool!

I was planning on reselling my Pal Mickey when we return, but now, thinking about your idea of taking him on all your travels and making a journal.....hmmmm.....might borrow your idea and keep ours :-)

Can someone give me some info on what Pal Mickey does OUTSIDE WDW theme parks? If there's enough value to having him prior to our 2006 trip to WDW, I'd go ahead and get him for my kids to play with him prior to the January 2005 cruise. Any thoughts on this?

I "borrow" some clothes that fit 10 inch bears, I use the "vests" that are made by crafts persons to fit wine bottles and I beg my mother to make him clothes. He now has a wardrobe of 6 outfits and I am working on more. He has various accessories including a small backpack with a screwdriver (mickey screwdriver no less) and batteries and plastic zip lock incase of rain, a pair of water goggles, float and towel in case he gets near water. (But, we all know he is not able to swim and can't get wet). He even has a pair of binoculars incase he sees his friends from the jungle (you know tigger etc.I have a lot of fun dressing him and accessorizing him. (And this is from a 50+ lady. (I guess I am frustrated because I have no grandchildren))
