I highly suggest all of you to get this great new Disney Toy. Basically this is a plush mickey toy, but he speaks, over 700 phrases, but not just anything, there are sensors everywhere you step in the parks that set him off and he says things ranging from how long this line is for space mountain, to which direction to head if you want to see the pirates of the carribbean, to telling jokes, etc. You guys it is the best! Right now it can only be bought in the resorts, soon to debut in all the stores in the parks!!!! It is $8 a day to rent or $50 to buy.

I plan to! I can't wait to get to Disney in August and buy my PalMickey and I'm in my mid-30's. Leaving DS (16) at home this time and taking sister and two nieces.

If you see a grown woman in a tug of war with a 5 year old over a PalMickey that will be me! ;)

As far as I'm concerned, age goes out the window once I'm at WDW.

dmc613, did you get to use Pal Mickey first hand? So far I've read some mixed reviews, so I just want to get all possible opinions.

Thanks! :D

We just got back...will post our highlights next week, but we did buy Pal Mickey and used him at the parks...He is unbelievable...
When we were walking across the bridge into France, he told us that this would be a good place to see Illuminations, but be sure to get there by 8:00 to get a good viewing spot. There were many, many more highlights. A cast member told us she saw more adults carrying Pal Mickey than kids! Also, a Pal Mickey pin came out yesterday. Got one before we had to head to the airport.

It sounds cool! I'd like to get one, but I'd have to convince my wife (our "Chief Financial Officer") that it would be a wise "investment." Maybe the magic of WDW will open up the purse strings a bit. :teeth:

I too was looking forward to this, until I read a few posts from people who've "test driven" him and the early reports aren't good. Glitches in his basic workings such as notifying of parade hours for a park he's not in. Also, complaints that he doesn't clip well on your belt, keeps falling off and that he's not easily heard when you clip him at your belt (where else would you put him) over the park noise. I was really excited and was prepared to buy for myself (no kids....), but now, I'm thinking it'd be wiser to rent him for ONE day in one park and test him out before shelling out the $50. Or, wait for the next version.

oooh, I can't wait to try him! I think I'll rent him for Magic Kingdom to see how it goes. He sounds really cute. Reminds me of the wake-up calls...like Mickey is speaking just to me! How big is Pal Mickey? Is it like a 22" plush or more like a beanie baby size? Is he heavy?

Thanks

Some friends of ours are making there first trip to the World this month. They have a 2 1/2 year old. They have been GREAT friends and I was thinking of doing something nice for them. I thought I would see if I can arrange to pre-pay for a Pal Mickey and have it given to them when the check in. I don't want to put it in their room because they are arriving early and going to MK. I am worried their room may not be ready yet.
Does anyone know if I can call the resort (WL) a couple of days before and charge one? And, for those of you who have used it, do you think this would be a good idea?

Thanks

My brother bought his 3 year old one when we were down there last week. What we discovered was that she really didn't know what to do with it. She was too young to get the jokes or play the games, and what he said didn't interest her.

I think Pal Mickey is really better for a 5 year old and up.
He's kind of expensive to give to a child who doesn't understand.

Have Fun!

I'm her at WDW and just got one. He's great. He vibrates and laughs whenever he needs to tell you something. I've seen lots of older grown men carrying him around. Many people have stopped me and asked about him. I took him to Epcot today and he had quite a few interesting facts about some of the attractions. VERY COOL INDEED! BTW you clip him onto your fanny pack or shorts and carry him around that way. He is fairly light. I can see these guys selling out. Lots of cast members are interested in getting him.

I would contact the WL Guest Services.... they should be able to give you more info. That sounds like a great idea!!!

My 8 year old AND 12 year old both want one(as do I :p ). Since we have seasonal passes and will be visiting a lot, I think it will be fun. Not sure whether to call and have him in the room, or let them decide about them when we check into CR. We may just go with one they can take turns with and see if we "need" two! I was hoping for a "Minnie" version before we arrive! DS wants a "Goofy":p ! Not sure if and when other versions are planned!

I'm 24 and DH and I will be at WDW in 13 days and we both can't wait to get one! We just hope they won't be sold out. It sounds like such a fun idea especially for us, we were amazed by the Magic Moments Pins so this is right up our alley! We don't have any kids so it will just be me and DH fighting over it! :D

Oh, we are definitely going to need one of these !!!
Are all of the resorts selling them?

Any chance of getting one shipped to us prior to us leaving for WDW?

Sounds like too much fun to pass up!!

and how do you explain to your kids when Mickey quits speaking when you leave the Magic Place?

erinch -

I don't think Mickey does stop speaking. He still tells jokes and plays games when not in the parks so I'm guessing he'll still work at home.

We'll be buying one on Saturday!
