My parents actually own a timeshare at the Waiohai - they've owned it for about 3 years now. So, we were staying with them on their week (fortunately for us, all of the units there are 2 BR, so we usually get the invite!). But, the Waiohai is a place you can trade into using DVC through Interval - and I think it's one of the best places on the island. It's only been open for about 3 years, too. The villas are awesome, Poipu Beach is one of the best rated beaches in the world and is right outside your door, the grounds are beautiful....I love Kauai!!

I honestly haven't vacationed at all the other islands, but my parents have, and Kauai is their hands down favorite. They usually go for two weeks and spend a week on another island - and this year, my mom was trying to convince my dad that they needed to sign up for another week so they could just stay on Kauai the whole time!

I would suggest going to www.marriottvillas.com, and getting on their mailing list, etc. I know the Waiohai is about 70% sold, but there might be the chance to get an offer to go and check it out. That's what my parents got, and after they went through the sales presentation (which was only a little over an hour and no pressure) they decided to buy because they love the island so much.

I know it's hard to get out there - but if given the opportunity - GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I soooo wish we could go there for our 10th anniversary this December... but we're going to WDW instead. Not a bad choice, but I'd really like to fly East/West once!! We only seem to fly North/South!!!!

Not a bad compromise, but I know what you mean! (Or rather, my DH does - he can't figure out how I manage to eat up all of our vacation time by either going to Florida or Hawaii!)

Of course, Andy was traveling with a secret! Another thing to add to his resume - child protective services agent. Look at what he smuggled from Paula's house:

We winged our way to Kauai the next day. Andy had the best seat in the house, as he got to stretch out horizontally in my bag for the 8+ hour flight.

Here is one of our many "firsts" upon our arrival:

We waited eagerly by the pool for my parents to arrive - they were meeting my DH, my brother, and I after they had been on Maui for the prior week. They welcomed Andy with open arms!

Once we got all checked in, everyone got their leis, and the fun could officially begin!

Your mom looks like your sister! Cool pictures!!

Thanks for those great pic's of Andy in HI!!

The poor thing loves water but water doesn't love him!!

I also want to go to Hawaii before I die.....maybe for my 25th wedding anniversary....that gives me just 10 years to plan it.... :lmao:

Well MTM was still talking about Saturday so here are three more pictures.
He wanted to sit in a real buggy but I told him that that might not be possible so we used the one that was at the campground.

He asked where were the Amish and I told him that one does not take their picture because they believe their soul would be taken. He was cool with that. Here is the rear shot of a carriage.

this is the covered bridge sign.

One other thing MTM learned from the weatherman from all the raining and flooding. "Don't drown, turn around"

See Ya

Terry,

I love the pictures. You guys had fun!!!! :goodvibes  :dance3:

Since I had to work, M Thomas Mouse was up and ready to go. I managed to find an iron on patch for July 4th since I am not design talented at all. He was happy with the design so off we went. It ended up that for most of the day there was just myself and one other person answering the phones. A few others came and went as they had taken the day off. She and I took turns or worked together to sell discount park tickets. Thank goodness there were actually periods of time when it was quiet. But MTM was happy to see the seniors.
We still have an issue with the front walkway and can only have two or three people walk across it at a time. We are hoping to get that fixed as quick as possible. MTM pointed out that some seniors cannot go up the stairs without help so we don't know who might be having to stay home until it is resolved.
Maybe when the Governor visits on Friday, he will see the problem and we could get faster action. He is supposed to sign some bill.

Anyhow here are some pictures. The first one is his patriotic shirt.

This is from the concert on Sunday night. The New Holland Band played in Mount Gretna. It is a favorite place for some people who have summer homes. Our children from our three camps go to the lake during the summer for field trips. Thomas and I had front row seats.

I took a short video of DH and others playing a slide trombone number called Hallelujah Trombone. Thomas really liked that one. DH is the second trombone player. Just click on it and it will come up on another screen and then click again and it will play. Just don't have your speakers on too high!

Enjoy the 4th

By now, Andy has made his way to the Austin, TX metro area to visit with Jennifer (bear74) and her family, but I wanted to share his adventures with me!

First things first - Andy arrived just in time to stow away in my bags to Kauai! He didn't look too worse for the wear from his cross-country trip from Paula, although he did bring up the fact that we COULD have just picked him up in California on our way. Of course, just more frequent flyer miles for him! Here he is, straight out of his traveling compartment:

Oh, I love it! I was beginning to think Paula lost her mind 'cuz she kept posting that she couldn't find her staples. :lmao: This is so funny! WTG Andy! Child Protective Services Agent!!!!!

All too quickly our week in paradise came to a close, and we had one final dinner at The Beach House, our absolute favorite. It also has a spectacular view of the sunset.

Here are Andy and me, before we head out for our final evening on the island:

Some scenic shots at the restaurant:

Marti,

When DH was in the Navy, we were stationed in Hawaii for almost three years. I really loved it there. I must admit that coming off the plane in November of 1970, it was very, very humid and I was about 3 months pregnant with our first, and it hit me like a brick wall with the humidity.
I managed to get over that but it was hard for the first week.
I really loved living there. We managed to make a lot of friends with the locals. I sold Tupperware for about two years. We always said that if there had been a nuclear power plant we would have stayed. But that was then when we were very young with our first and second one on the way.

Robyn,
Looks like Brooksie had a lot of fun.
Niagara Falls is a great place to visit. I just remembered the Maid of The Mist was very wet. Thank goodness Brooksie was covered :rotfl:

I was a little worried that he would get wet but Emma was bound and determined to keep him safe and dry and she did. Somehow, DH and I were the only ones to get wet. I got soaked on the Cave of the Winds, Eric fared a little better on the Maid of the Mist.

Robyn-

awesome pic's of your trip to Niagara!!! We can't wait to meet you all next week!!

Great pictures and trip reports. It looks like all 3 pals are having a great time. I have always wanted to go to Niagara Falls and wouldn't you know that little Brooksie made it there first. I've been to hawaii, but Andy's trip report just reminded me of how much I'd like to go back. That trip is definately in our future, but we are waiting for the kids to get older as I don't recall there being that much for young kids to do there. Snorkeling and sight seeing were amazing over there.
