Hi Everyone!

There is a new Disney Character Warehouse in the Silver Sands shopping center in Destin. They have only been open about a month. Anyway, I went in today, and they had dozens of the original Pal Mickeys at $27.99 each. Since they are such a new store, I don't know if they will ship like some of the Disney Outlets just yet, but their number is 850-650-0633.

Yes, I really have been lurking on a regular basis for about 4 years, but I never really felt I had anything to contribute!

If this information can help someone, it's the least I can do--our family has had several magical Disney trips in the past few years, and I owe it all to these boards! :wave2:

Cool,

We have vacation in Destin the last 3 years (not this summer). and we always hit the Silver Sands. Love that mall!

Thanks for the heads up.

Is there ANWHERE in the disney area that I can just pick one up?

:rotfl: I waited WAY to long to decide that I wanted to get the girls a PAL Mickey :rotfl:, so now I'm stressing over the situation. I want to get them the original PAL Mickey that I keep seeing posts about in outlets for between $28-$30 (I just can't justify spending $65 on 1 Mickey that has such mixed reviews, when I can get them each one for the same price and then buy him Target clothes). I would love to stop in and just pick him up. Better yet I would love to have already called and paid for him so that I would only need to run in KNOWING he was waiting for me, WAIT  did I just say ME lol now you know, I want to play with him too :rotfl: . If I can't pick him up somewhere near Disney, would I be able to pay to ship him to my off-site resort Cypress Pointe where he could wait behind the desk for our arrival. I only have 12 days left so I am feeling the pressure.

Thanks DIS'ers I knew that you guys would know the answer :cool1: !

I went to the new store the first they opened. Didn't buy anything, but sure glad it's there! :sunny:

Yeah, I didn't realise it was that good of a deal! May have to stop by and get one before our trip in December. Wow, I didn't know pal mickey's were $60. :earseek:

YAY! I"m headed there this weekend. I'm in Panama City, so I go quite often to Silver Sands. LOVE the Dooney and Bourke store there. I saw a while ago that there was one opening there, and now it's open! YAY! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :bounce: :Pinkbounc :cool1:

I didn't know we had so people on this list that live in the panhandle. I am also a member of the "Mouse For less" group. I am supposed to host a local MouseFest party in December, but I didn't think we'd have enough people in the area. If anyone is interested, let me know.

We could meet for lunch and Christmas shopping in the Silver Sands outlet.

thanks,
Trena
Lynn Haven (Panama City)...you know...right in the path of Hurricane Katrina!

Wow. Lots of people from the panhandle on here! I plan on heading out to Silver Sands within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for the heads up on the DCW, I haven't been out there since they've been open.

Oh yeah, I'm in Pensacola.

Got my mouse yesterday. Thank you OP!
The CM's there yesterday were GREAT! Especially a man named Douglas!
He could tell my son was being a little on the rambunctious side makign it hard for me to shop . . . .so he took my son aside and played with him on the floor bouncing a ball back and forth. I got to talk with him a bit and he said he used to work in some of the shops in WDW, and we talked about about different Disney facts, and trivial stuff, like that the CM's of the Character Wharehouses are considered WDW employees, and they can pin tade and all of that. But it was so sweet that he played with my son so I could wrap up shopping and then check out. The cashier was nice too, Jennifer, very talkative (in a good way).

I am trying to find contact information so I can get them, especially Douglas, some recognition. To me it was like having the Disney magic here at "home". Almost worthy of a Magical Moments Certificate. :)

WOW, didn't realize there were this many Dis'ers in the Panhandle. :D

Sending all you in the panhandle good thoughts as Hurricane Katrina strengthens and heads north!

Hi again!

I'm glad to hear that my information was actually helpful to some of you, and I am equally surprised and delighted that there are so many people from our area on these boards!

And about this Katrina business -- Boo! Hiss!

I live in the Navarre area, and I'm not even finished with Ivan repairs! (Of course, neither are thousands of others, so there is no whining allowed at our house. :sad2: )

Everyone stay safe, and I'll be lurking on the boards regularly once again once we get back from evacuating! :moped:

I am not from Destin but I like to pretend I am. I am certain I should retire in the panhandle. Perhaps I should really move before I retire.

We stop at Destin for 2 nights on our way to Disney every trip. Then on the way back we stop again for one night. It is a few extra miles but thats where my kids want to be. I never have been to the malls there. Is this the Outlet mall? Where is it from 98 and Walmart? Also how do I get to a Sams club?

Thanks Tigger

Yes, it is at the Silver Sands outlet mall out by Sandestin. Just get on 98 and go toward Panama City and it will be on your left before you get to Sandestin.

Sam's Club is on Beal Street in Ft Walton, next to Walmart and Lowe's. Take 98 into Ft Walton (from Destin) and take a right onto Beal, next light after going thru downtown (Staff's restaurant will be on your left before the light). If you see Capt D's on your right, you've gone too far. Stay on Beal for about 5 miles (or something like that!) and you will see all the stores on your left.

And yes, I am from Fort Walton too!

Cathy

Thanks PrincessMom 2

I hope to be back next Summer. I Think I saw that mall before on our way to Orlando. I can hardly wait to return How is the weather in March? Maybe we could make a non Disney trip to Destin.

Thanks
Tigger

I've been to the store twice since it opened. I love it there. I'm really surprised to find I'm not the only one on these boards from Ft Walton Bch.

Fellow Pensacolian here! Looks like Katrina decided to party on Bourbon Street instead of on the beach. Close one guys....

OP - Thanks for the heads up re: Pal Mickey. We headed over there today and grabbed one. Not much else was of interest, but I'll definitely be checking back before the holidays.
