Has anybody heard if the intend to bring Pal Mickey to Disneyland Resort?

I have him from WDW and I love to carry him around and hear what he has to say, and I can't believe they don't have one at DLR!

Hmmm, just sounds like something else to have to carry around. I already don't like having to drag around the backpack that we do! LOL

That does sound intriguing...but I probably already know everything that the doll knows, lol. :P I spend WAY too much time learning about Disneyland history.

Pal Mickey costs around $70, but he doesn't work at Disneyland. He only works at Disney World. Sorry. If it's any consolation, I can't use mine either.

Hahaha. Aww thats too bad. Wow, thats pretty expensive ! That'd be pretty cool if they had a way to do something to that like by renting instead of buying so that it wouldn't cost so much !!!

 About 2 years ago,I asked the same question via email, and I was told probably will never happen.:confused3 The Mgr. had no real answer as to why, I was really disappointed though. Maye if LOTS of people keep sending emails or request it could happen..:thumbsup2

I think the size of the park doesn't justify the expense. WDW is huge and therefore, Pal Mickey is more versatile. I just don't think it is justified at DL. It may just be too expensive to install the technology.

Since they are going to bring in the rentable DS thing to do the same thing at Magic Kingdom I don't see why they would not do something similar for Disneyland.

dd got one at WDW last year. It was cool for the first hour. But he seemed to repeat so much of the same thing. He asked to name the dwarfs so many times and we never got character sighting updates. He was cute and had a lanyard and a clip so it was easy to carry. But $70 worth (plus $10 for each additional outfitfor each park!!!)- NO WAY!!

I had a friend who used to work on the team that runs Pal Mickey at WDW. They stated that it was originally planned for DL, but it's success rate at WDW was not large enought to justify the set up costs for DL - which were very expensive. Not sure if the demographic here would support it.

We thought Pal Mickey was worth the purchase price (in fact, we actually have two), but we really used it to the max. We got them before we had kids and just found the fun in where and when he "went off". We made it sort of a treasure hunt for his transmitters.

Just a note on how they work. The character sightings and attraction update transmissions are actually manually sent to the Mickeys. The parade one is really the only one of those that is on a schedule. A Lead CM (who is on the Mickey team and works in their own daily position, as well) controls the manual transmissions. If there is no one manning that position, then they won't be sent out.

Thanks for the info.

I love my little guy.

And I was given a new outfit for him as a special gift from my DD, so I have Pirate Pal Mickey, which is twice as good.

There were times he was redundant, but it was twice as exciting when we would get a new tidbit of information from him.

I actually did learn a few new things from him. I can't wait to take him back to WDW and see what he has to say the next go around.

We love our Pal Mickey. DH and I don't have kids yet, but Pal Mickey is the best at WDW. I leave in just 2 days for DL and was doing some final packing and saw Pal Mickey in his cabinet(yes he lives in a cabinet...) and felt bad that he doesn't get to go to DL. He would be so fun there. Sure his jokes are corny, but hey, it's Disney! We still laugh! Lol
