Painting on metal water bottles...

Have you done this?

I have 12 water bottles from my stepfather - was thinking of making some party favors for my daughter's party this coming Saturday..

They are all green ... Was thinking the girls names on them that are coming to the party ...

I am sure that regular letter etc, will wash off, any suggestions???

I'm not the best artist but could use some metallic paint pens to do their name maybe??

What do you think?

I think the paint pens will be your best bet and the easiest thing to use. You could definitely do names easily and maybe get some small stencils with basic designs (hearts, small flowers, etc) or you could even just do multi colored squiggles or polka dots. If you go the stencil route you'd have to keep it small since I assume the water bottles have curved surfaces, anything too big and it wouldn't lay right.

How old are the kids going to be? Maybe this could be an activity at the party? Like you could write their names out and they could decorate the rest?

between 8 and 9 years old ... I have them doing pillow cases and tote bags too, well they get to chose which they'd like!

The water bottles were just an extra, as my stepfather gave me a case of them. I wasn't expecting to do them...
I had the party favors already purchased and ready to go.

I'll see, but yes, paint pens.. I just dont want them to wash off....
it is a water bottle and hopefully people will wash them! LOL

I don't think they'd wash off but maybe a trial run? I think a cloth or a sponge would be fine but obviously not a green scrubbie or anything like that. I also would say a dishwasher would probably be a no go but someone should be able to wash them in the sink.

My local Michael's said to use oil based markers/pens and it shouldn't be a problem with washing off...
We will see!
