Paint the Night Parade Epilepsy warning

In my previous life as a theater administrator, if a show had any kind of strobe effect or similar lighting, I always required that the house manager make note of it in his or her opening announcements, specifically because I know they can cause seizures. (Similarly, for one show I worked on that used a smoke machine, we incorporated a statement about that in deference to theatergoers with asthma or other similar issues.) That was standard practice in the world of theater - I'm kind of shocked that Disney doesn't adhere to it.

Hi everyone,
I have contacted Disney about this issue. As far as the negative posts, no biggie. I wasn't giving this warning so that people wouldn't watch the parade, I just wanted parents (and epileptic adults) to be aware of the situation we faced. I thought I had done my homework, the parade lights are so much brighter in person and there were parts that I had never seen that were extremely bright. Lesson learned the hard way right? We will be there next week and maybe we'll try again from a FAR seat or maybe not, it depends on how he does with other things. Thanks for all of the good thoughts sent our way. I appreciate it. If you ever see two Pooh sized women pushing a young man on a wheelchair, please say hello, that would be my sister, my son and me , fellow Disneyland lovers!

traveln4fun, Sorry to hear what happened to your son. We were there last week, also, and saw the parade. It was amazing. However, I can definitely see how it could cause a siezure. So so so many lights! I wanted to ask you about the Jolly Holiday Bakery. I've never eaten there. Is there an upper level? That would be a good spot. Is it a second level? Or just a higher platform area??

Hi Carisa81, there isn't necessarily a second level, but there is an upper portion to the main outdoor dining area. It is just the upper area where you enter the restaurant. I figured I could get my son out quickly if need be. We wouldn't be stuck like we were the first time. We usually eat there because they offer a meal that is a grilled cheese and hot soup. My son loves it (he's a dunker : ). If you get there early, you can reserve a table and see most of the parade since it is so big and you would be sitting above most of the crowd. Hope this info helps.

glad you told me about this - thanks.

I suffer from migraines so thanks for heads up.
