Paint the Night Blue Bayou packages

It may be too soon to know since the PTN dining packages just went into effect on Jan. 11; however, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with times opening up at the last minute for the PTN Blue Bayou package? This will be my sister's first trip to Disneyland and I would like her to see the fireworks for the first time with a castle view. There is only one PTN at 7:00, with fireworks at 7:40, so it would be difficult to get from the PTN Aladdin's Oasis viewing spot near IASW to the Main Street Hub (and find a decent viewing spot) in time for the fireworks. We have three-day park hopper tickets and have the Carthay Circle WOC dinner package for our our day there on Fri., Feb. 5. I want my sister to enjoy the experience of dining at Blue Bayou, and so even without the PTN package I've scheduled a late lunch/early dinner there on Thurs, Feb.4. There were no Blue Bayou PTN package times available for any of our dates when I booked two weeks ago. I'm hoping for a PTN Blue Bayou dining package to open up on either Feb. 3 or Feb. 4.

I would def keep checking, I would check everyday maybe even a couple times a day and if people don't cancel 24hrs ahead their card gets charged an amount so just keep checking peoples plans change all the time!

If you haven't already I would try posting in the February Check In in case one of those people cancel theirs you could snag it up 1 minute later. Coordinate the the drop time (done all the time on the WDW boards).

Also, go right to BB and ask when you get to the parks.

we did the BB PTN package on Jan 14, it was a nice experience but because of the cost i'm unsure we would do it again ~~ it is a one time or special day experience for us! we had me, DH and DS (6yo) this time around!

~dinner was good -- i had gumbo, DH has shrimp cocktail ~ we both had the steak and lobster (it was yummy) and i had the chocolate cake thing (super sweet for me, i did not finish) and DH had the creme brule and he enjoyed it. nice perk was drinks are included so i was able to drown myself in mint juleps!!!
~kids meal was a simple kids meal, DS like it but enjoyed watching POTC riders go by instead
~even thought the FP tix said to get to reserved seating at 7:30, we showed up shortly after 7pm and was able to get a spot on the curb to sit, they have two sides of main street so there was plenty of curb seating to go around but those who arrive around 7:40 or later had to sit/stand behind us

after the parade we were able to move onto Main Street and watch the fireworks, we were not close to the castle (we were close to carnation cafe/across from Starbucks) but still were able to see the building projections and enjoy the snow!

hope this review helps!

We did the BB PTN package tonight. Overall it was a good experience. The menu choices are the same as the Fantasmic! package menu. We arrived to the reserved spot at 7:35 for the 8:00 parade. My daughters got the last two curb spots and I stood behind. I would have easily been able to sit on the curb as well, but a selfish family of 4 were taking up enough room for 8 people. Unfortunately, the cast members were not monitoring the amount of room guests were claiming. Oh well. It wasn't worth it for me to say anything. The parade view is great. Not sure what time you have to claim a curb spot without the dining package reservation, but if it's only an hour or so early then I don't think the reserved dining is all that worth it. We'll try the Alladin's Oasis package next time and experience the parade and fireworks from IASW.

Sigh. We didn't know drinks were included until she brought out bottles of Dasani since we hadn't ordered anything and drinks were included. Well, OK, now that we KNOW drinks are included, LOL. DH ordered coffee, but I still figured it was soda, which we don't drink. I sort of like DL's juleps, and certainly would have had one IF they had told me I could have!

But we had VERY confused service that night. Sure, one of the first nights of PTN, but it was the same stuff as for F, so I'm not sure why there were problems. "Oh, so do you WANT the Paint the Night menu?" Ummmm....

I booked a couple weeks ago by phone and the CM noted on our ressie we were PTN pckg even though there were non available. She said it was because they weren't loaded into the system yet. Try calling resservations and see if they can help you.

I haven't seen the "February Check-In" thread on the DIS. Will check it out. Thanks.

Following this thread — headed to DLR for my first time in May and strongly considering the dining packages! Thanks everyone for the reviews and info!

We did the BB PTN package this past Friday. Dinner was very good!!!Our group ordered the Surf & Turf, Filet Mignon, and Portobello Mushroom. All were excellent and the mint juleps were very good too. The brought our viewing tickets when they brought the bill.

We got to Main St around 6:45? and milled around a bit until they let us into the preferred area which was at 7 pm. We sat there on the curb until the parade started at 8 pm (my feet were soooo tired!). The parade was awesome! Very fun and upbeat and colorful.

When the parade was over, everyone moved into the street to watch the fireworks. The fireworks show was amazing as expected but I almost felt that the projections were their "own show" and the fireworks were just an added bonus. We were able to see the projections on Main St buildings, however sometimes it was a little hard to see because the buildings weren't a true flat surface. It wasn't bad by any means, just had to adjust your eyes to figure out what the projection was or look for a flatter surface. I was looking towards the castle for the fireworks and turning to the side to see the projections, so it was a bit of back and forth but not in a bad way. We were not able to see the Matterhorn from where we were but we were able to see Tink fly at the castle!

On Saturday, we didn't do a dining package but ended up over at the tiered area by IASW to see the parade at 8 pm. I went and looked for the dining package area for Aladdin's Oasis guests and it was an area roped off closest to IASW (and close to the gate that the parade comes out of. It appeared to me that the rest of the tiered area going toward the Matterhorn was open to anyone who didn't have preferred viewing. We sat on the wall right in front of the railing and watched the parade again.

When the parade was over, we had to wait for it to get to the end of Main St before the fireworks started so we had like 20 minutes to kill. We moved over into the middle of the street closer to IASW and waited. There was plenty of room for people, lots of open space there. Fireworks started and were going off to the left of IASW and at castle. The projections were on the front of IASW and I felt that the projections were better there than on Main St. I kept looking back at Matterhorn because I thought I had heard there were projections on the mountain but I never did see any. Maybe they were on the other side that faced castle/Main St? And I also thought I had read something about Dumbo also flying around Matterhorn? Maybe I got that wrong. From that viewing spot, I was not able to see Tink fly either. I thought I would be able to as I could see the wires from the castle to the Matterhorn. Either way, the projections were great and easy to see so just be aware that each viewing area has pros & cons. I liked both areas very much so it would be hard to say which one was "best". lol

About how much time in advance did you grab your spot by IASW?

My husband and I did the Blue Bayou Paint the Night Package last friday (January 22nd 2016) and thought it was great. The set menu is 62$ (or 25$ for kids aged 3-9) and has a great selection to choose from (including entrées that are almost 50$ normally, making the package excellent value). The food was excellent and the service was friendly and fast. We have passes so got 10% off dinner which was a bonus. We arrived early for our reservation and requested a water-side table (definitely worth doing) for a nice atmospheric view of the Pirates ride. The viewing area for the Parade is curbside at Main Street by Carnation Café, it's nice to get a good spot without having to camp out mega early and waste valuable Disneyland time!! (it's not got seats, but there's nothing stopping you sit on the curb if you want to) We enjoyed it and would consider returning another time to do a Fantasmic dinner package instead :)

I just booked a PTN Blue Bayou package today. Or trip is weekend of March 19. There were several time slots available so I chose 6:20. Parade starts at 8:30.
I tried booking online but there were glitches and it didn't work. Calling was very easy and they took care of it right away. They bring your special "viewing passes" with the bill, just like the World of Color dining package at Carthay Circle.

We saw PTN in September and it was fantastic. Got a spot right on Main Street, unobstructed view. This package is worth checking out for us. Love the Blue Bayou and a reserved area sounds great! Seeing the fireworks from Main Street is pandemonium no matter which way you cut it. We'll be in place to join the masses and press the flesh. :hyper2:
