Thanks to a horrific month of weather (last month), we have a mess to deal with on our 2nd floor. We are going to be getting our insurance check soon, and we are going to do a bunch of the stuff ourselves to save some $$. (Not the carpet though, that we will get done by pros)
Anyway, the thought of painting all that needs done makes my arms hurt, so I wanted to get info on paint sprayers. Does it make it easier? faster? All interior painting BTW.

If you are going to use a paint sprayer it must be used in an area that has no flooring. There will be alot of overspray. All baseboards and such will have to be covered as well. I own a painting company and the only time we use a sprayer for an interior is when we are doing new construction. Yes, it does make it go faster, but you still have to cut in the walls. A paint sprayer will cost about $1,500. You can rent one from Sherwin Williams for about $100 a day. Be sure to use a mask when using it. Good Luck!

The carpeting will all be replaced anyway.

our experience with them has not been good! :lmao: Unless you use them everyday, they are kind of tricky. It's not hard to get them ready to use, but actually getting the paint to look nice is VERY difficult. It can come out very streaky and runny. We've tried a couple times with different sprayers, and we ended up just painting over what we tried to do anyway because it looked like crud. Not to mention you and everything around you will be covered in paint.:rotfl2: If you have molding in that area, I DEFINATELY wouldn't recommend it. We found them to be a big pain!

We had our house built 4 years ago and they used sprayers for paint... fast forward to today. We're doing make overs in the kids bedrooms and I diligently taped off and edged and have so far repainted 2 of the 3 rooms. Took of the tape, admired my beautifully straight lines, and low and behold noticed the spray over all around the edges on the ceiling that I never noticed before. What a mess! So now we either need to paint the ceilings to cover up the was is now very obvious to us spray over, or just need to ignore the blue hue on the edges of our white ceilings. UGH! Anyway, my advise would be to suck it up and paint the traditional way or hire out. The sprayers even when done by a professional seem to be messy and probably won't save you much after rental fees (and repairing/cleaning up the mess) in the end.
