Paint color for bathroom - help me decide!

My bathroom is currently a jumble of colors – tub/toilet are pinkish peach, wall/floor tiles are a light turquoise, vanity is an off-white/beige/pinkish peach “marbled” Formica, and wallpaper is a metallic silver, teal, pink and white! (Straight out of the early '80s :))

The wallpaper is so outdated and not in good shape at all, so I’ve decided that after 30 years it is time for it to go. I’m having someone come in to strip the wallpaper and paint the walls this week.

What color do you guys think I should paint? I don’t really have a huge vested interest in the wall color – it is my late mother’s home, and while I am currently living there, I hope to have it on the market soon.

I was thinking of a light pinkish peach that would sort of go with the tub/toilet and some of the marbling in the vanity. My other idea was a beige-y color – I figured it would be neutral and also go with some of the vanity marbling.

Currently my accessories are all a light sage green (I know, I know – yet ANOTHER color!!), but I’m not adverse to packing those away and picking up a few new towels, floor mat and shower curtain to go with the new colors.

Unfortunately only a paint job is in the current budget, so changing out tile, fixtures, vanity, etc. is not an option.

What do you guys think? :confused3

I'd go with cream or light beige - as neutral as possible.

Since you are going to be selling it, go with the biege.

Also, I would not want to accent the pink in the room, rather I would compliment the color to tone it down.

Beige is going to take on the pink of the room already, there is no need to bring it out more.

Now if I was not selling, I might be tempted to do a darker brown, like coffee. Put some "modern" look in there.

Another vote for the beige. As neutral as possible esp. if you plan on selling!:thumbsup2

Have you looked into getting the tile and fixtures reglazed? It doesn't cost all that much and will very much help you sell your house. I would have everything glazed in white and then paint the wall something nice. A new countertop will cost you less then $50.

Beige it is - thanks for the input everybody :)

I've been looking at the Benjamin Moore color swatches that the painter left for me - I've already got colors picked out for my next place (which doesn't exist yet!!).

Growing up, my family was always had just white walls - I can't wait until I can put a little more personality in my decorating style ;)
