Painless Alamo rental

Rented Alamo for 10 days last week and it was a painless transaction. Not one problem. I reserved online in May. I used a Costco code, but did not use an additional coupon because I wanted to do online check in and bypass the counter. I didn't get insurance. When passing the rental counter there must have been around 40-50 people in line. We had rented Premium and there was nly 1 Buick Lucerne, 1 Buick LeSabre (think that's the name), and 2 Chrysler Pacificas. We opted for the Pacificia which was really nice and it held 5 big pieces of luggage and the stroller. The door did have a piece of tape or something on it, but I made the lady note it on the agreement. Off we went. I did ask if I could use a coupon, but she said no. But it only would have saved me $20 and I'd rather skip the counter and that long line.

Tape indicates that there was a problem with the vehicle, which probibly wasn't fixed before it was put back out on the lot :sad2: Anyways, would you think that National would have a similar type of vehicle for Premium. I wouldn't really pay more for a Lesabre, but would love a pacifica if we could get it....hmm

I was surprised to see the Pacifica and asked the guy if it was a premium and he said yes. National doesn't offer a Pacifica for Premium?

im not sure to tell you the truth. i know alot of companies are buying those as premiums (thrifty dollar alamo). Did yours have leather and options or were most of them stripped down...i know im full of questions :thumbsup2

It had leather seats, a 3rd row seat (which luckily folded down), rear air conditioning, CD Player, Power seats. The second row had captains seats or bucket seats. It was the Touring edition. It really rode nice. I bumped my head getting in a few times as the top of the windows seem rather lower than normal. I'm only 5'8".

We rented from Alamo and it was also a great experience. I used a coupon and had Quick Silver and it all went smoothly. I was worried since I have had problems with them in the past.

we had a really great customer service with alamo in las vegas so were renting from their again in nov. when we go to fla. we didnt even had ressies with them, and they got us a great deal.

we were on such a time crunch on the way back to the airport (in lv) we didnt wash the car and we knew they were going to charge us, but they didnt woohoo

You have to wash the car before you return it? I have never heard of that. Alamo at MCO doesn't make you wash it.

I did notice today that I was charged for an additional driver for $80 ($8/day), but on my confirmation it said additional driver free which was part of the Costco code. They had to honor it because I reserved it before the "change" took place (meaning apparently Costco's code doesn't include an additional driver anymore) so they credited my card. But then she went in the computer and used the same code to reserve and it included the additional driver! But check your reservations about the additional driver.

Usually, they won't charge you to wash it. Somewhere in the fine print, im sure it states that the vehcile needs to be returned as it was checked out, but normally they run it through the wash and top of the tank before they throw em back on the lot....

yeah it says it in small print that it needs to be washed before returned and when we were in line to return it everyones was nice and clean and we had a white car and it rained that night and we put over 2500 miles on it so it was pretty dirty :rotfl:

Thanks for the tip! I never would have known. Do most people get it washed? This was the only the second time I ever rented a car and the last time was in  hmm 1998.

Holy Macaroni! That is a new one for me. I did not know you had to wash the car. I think they have some nerve. Is this just for Alamo?

i'm not sure lol but hubby and i was looking around while we waited on the guy to come check the car and laughing on how everyone else's car looked clean but our lol :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: it was pretty funny

In 5+ rentals per year for idk how long, weve never been actually charged for a wash, but if your car was totally covered in dirt or mud, im sure there would a cleaning fee....

LOL! We rented from Alamo in May. I had no idea I was "supposed" to get it washed so of course we didn't. I always thought they took care of all that!
