Good for you. I have paid off 6 credit card with our income tax. We are down to one and plan on paying that one off threw the year. Come Ocotober we will have another 200.00 extra from paying off chrysler from a extened warranty I bought(trust me my van needs it). SO by the end of the year we should be pretty much debt free except our mortgage and it is a really good feeling. We are using are debit card only since Jannuary and it really has been easier than I thought.

I'm almost done too. I'll be done with credit cards in February and then I've been helping my daughter pay back a small student loan - that will be done in March. It will be a great feeling!!!

Congrats to the OP!!!! We are sending our final payment to our furniture co. this month!!!! We have gotten rid of all but 1 credit card (Disney Visa) and we are chopping away at that one as well. We are sending most of the tax return to is so it should REALLY be chopped down! Just a few more months after that and we will be all done (with the exception of 1 car payment and the mortgage.) After the Visa is paid off we will get rid of that car payment QUICKLY!!!!! Like you said, It's sooooo nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel!

To PP - I did and am continuing to use the "snowball" method - paying off a small one, then applying that amount to the next debt and so on. It's working very well.

We have a debt that I'm working on but it's a long term debt with a locked in payment and a VERY low interest rate that we just have to get through. We do still have a bit less than two years to go now but considering that it was to take seven years I'm pretty happy!

Congratulations! I just paid off another today as well with my tax refund. Only 3 more CC's, one student loan from my husband's Masters Degree and we will be debt free except for the house! Feels good chipping away at it.
