hi
A friend of mine is cruising in 2-1/2 months paid in full no insurance
They dont want to cancell their cruise even though she just recently lost her job :-(
But they'd like to go faster then they were supposed to as she'll have to look for a new job
Any chances option 1 would be to cancell but no insurance I guess that is not possible even with a proof of loosing your job
Option 2 would be to go earlier so she can look faster for a job
What do you think ??
Thanks

Forgot to say she is I dont think that matters but she was going to be cc platinum so quite a few cruise with dvc but guess that doesnt count i am sure

If she has no insurance, and has to cancel her cruise, there will be penalties. Is she further out than 75 days? Then there will be no penalties, unless she's booked Concierge, in which case she will lose her deposit.

There is a sliding scale of how much in penalties will be forfeited for cancelling a cruise here:
https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/contracts-terms-safety/terms-conditions/

Just click on location of person cancelling and then scroll down to "Cruise Cancellation Fees".

I'm not sure whether DCL will allow the full amount to be transferred to an earlier cruise or not, if she's within the penalty period.

Being "almost platinum" doesn't get her anything.

She can ask to change it. There might be a penalty. If I were in her shoes I would look around the DCL site to find other cruises before calling, so she has an idea of what is available when.

If they won't allow you to change and it's too costly to cancel, keep up the job search and inform a new boss (do not state during interview process) that this was already planned. MOST new employers will allow you to take. Might be LWOP, but you would have a job and a cruise. IMHO

Agreeing with previous poster here. I have had many new hires who had a week or so off early in their tenure just because it was already planned. And yes, usually it was without pay as they had not completed their "probation" period and started earning vacation time, but that depends on the employer.
