That part would be a bug if this is what they are trying to do.But, those people need to log in over and over again to get it to work. For each FP they try for. So, they are not choosing certain people.

Maybe we are just bad at using the FP system, plus we usually stay off site so we literally have never been able to get a FP for FoP so have to rope drop it just to keep wait under an hour. Would never ride it 7 times but would consider paying a bit to guarantee getting on it once without having to be there so early
No matter when you change it you’re going to unfair to someone who had already booked.
But if you don't get the FP you're looking for, would you be refunded?? Sticky area.
You've never been able to get one? I have gotten one even day of. I am kind of surprised by that. Though my last few trips have been solo.
I said this over on wdwmagic but I'll post it here, too:
Lovely. Microtransactions coming to a theme park near you! EA must be proud!
Those seven were a mix of 60-day FPs, rope drops, and Day of FPs.
we've rope droped it ... stay off site, so dont' have access to 60 days, and never say anything come up day of (had parties ranging from 7 to 11 people so probably didn't help)
Seriously, people think just because a certain person said it, it must be true. I can tell you that isn't the case.
Additionally, this would spell the end of Disney World in the long term. Seriously, people would be willing to pay this now while the economy is doing well, but our good economy is built on a very shakey foundation right now of YouTube income, subscription economy, rideshares and many other things that can't last. Within the next 10 to 15 years, we will see a downturn in the economy and people will be making tough choices about where to spend any extra money and they will not look favorably on companies that have been doing stuff like this. And I am sure Disney is well aware they are on the brink of pushing things too far, which is another reason I say this is fake news.
If it was a bug it would be random days, not just 74 days ahead.No. It’s just a bug in the programming that needs to be fixed. That’s what tests are for.
I don't think it would take place in a few weeks.True, but there's a huge gulf between a few weeks of notice and six months or more of notice.
Honestly, a party that large is going to be a challenge for all but the most available day-of fast passes. I'm not sure even a paid system with limited inventory is going to help you that much. Ever try to split your group into smaller bits and search that way, trying to get overlapping times? It's harder but doable.
For it to be truly this fluid it would be quite a way down the road (not the May date being thrown around, IMO) or Martin is the one being fluid. Once it gets to senior people within the company to sign off on the changes it won't be very fluid, higher ups simply don't have the time to micro-manage a project. Especially with changes in the rumor occurring over the weekend, which doesn't even seem likely at the very basic team level of the discussion.I think Martin's info keeps changing because the discussion by those in the know keeps changing; meaning it's still a fluid situation and they know they are going to change it, they just don't know how yet... or they didn't.
Martin posted an update just now:

Looks like they want to limit re-riding.
We rode FoP 3 times on the same day with FP last week. Looks like that may go bye bye unless you pay.
well, guess it depends on how it works ... I am thinking, if they are going to charge for FP for specific attractions you would pay at the time of booking, so I wouldn't pay unless I knew what I was getting a FP for
If you have to pay just to have access to book FP and not know what will be available, that would definitely suck
Or they can offer discounts, promos, whatever when that happens, making you think you're getting a good deal.
I don't think it would take place in a few weeks.
IF this was implemented only for the major, hard-to-get attractions, I actually would be OK with this. One could always rope drop to get an “extra” ride. But, if this is implemented across the board, I would be sorely disappointed.
And, Martin said there may be three different FP packages available. So, an “All the Mountains!” package at MK may include BTMRR, 7DMT, SM, & Splash. You wouldn’t have to worry about securing those FPs, they would be guaranteed.
If multiple same day FP's can't be had for top rides then I'll just hop more often.
