Packing Water in our Luggage?

Initially we were gonna be driving down to Disney, so I have already purchased a 24 pack of water for us to have for the kids to take into the parks during the day. We have decided to fly and now I am wondering if its possible to put water in our luggage. We got a great deal with Southwest and with their 2 free bags per person, I wasnt sure if I would be CRAZY to pack water..to save on having to purchase bottles while we are down there. I know they have the Garden Grocer, but I don't really need to purchase $40.00 worth of groceries so thats not gonna work.

Any Suggestions?

Are you taking ME? If not you could stop by Hess or Grocery store. Or if possible, say yall get there and go to DTD the first day, you could walk across the street to Hess or gas station and pick up a case then carry (yeah that would be a pain) and get on the Disney bus back to resort. You could also get everyone a water bottle and refill it from a gallon of water from the resort store :confused3 According to my Kidani grocery list they sell a 1.5liter bottle of Dansani for $3.50. 1 gallon of Zephrillis water is only 2.95 at resort store. DH and I can also buy Distilled water for our CPAPs but we just have to ask the CM for it. I hope this helps you...have a great time

No way would I pack water. Have you seen the way they throw those bags around???

You can ship it to the resort via fed ex. It would be cheaper than buying new water.

That is what I would do.

Nadjalu or toddylu, who ya gonna trust? :lmao::rotfl2: So sorry that just struck me as funny.

I think all of the resort adresses are listed in one of the stickies.

Actually, we have done this in the past when luggage was "free". I froze it so it would not have as much to leak in a worst case scenario. I double-bagged 3-4 bottles in sturdy zipbags, with 2 disposable diapers in the outside baggie. (We had toddlers then.) If the water did leak, the diapers would absorb the leaks. I use Garden Grocer now.

Did it multiple times over several years and never had a leak or a problem.

Fed Ex a $6 case of water? I would be surprised to find that worth while. How many bags are you bringing? Can you just box the water and bring it on the plane?

You can't bring liquids onto the plane- not even in a box.

Personally I wouldn't risk possible leaks (plus it would make your luggage really heavy, and there are weight limits). But then if they did leak, it would only be water and you could probably throw the clothes into a dryer at your resort.

I actually only paid 2.00 for the case of water (Sale and Coupon). I have no idea how much it will cost to fed ex it, but I am gonna most likely just pack it inthe luggage. Even if I just take a suitcase with just the case of water in it LOL

The only thing I would be worried about packing it in luggage is it leaking. Baggage handlers aren't exactly gentle and if a bottle or 2 sprung a leak, and someone notices a bag leaking, wouldn't they do some sort of emergency lockdown and delay the plane to find out what that liquid is? I could be watching too many crime shows on tv though lol

We always pack water and soda in our suitcases and have never had any problems.

Have you thought about packing empty refillable water bottles? You can get ice water for free at any counter service at WDW. Just pour it into your bottles. I wouldn't pay to ship water.

You're going to Florida, not Haiti. Buy water when you arrive.

We don't lug water around at the parks anyway - you can get a cup of ice water FREE at any counter service place.

I can't imagine packing water. You can drink it from the tap. I wouldn't pack anything liquid in a checked bag, except maybe shampoo (which I don't, as we only travel with carry-ons and then buy what we need there).

Sometimes we all tend to get carried away when getting ready for a trip to WDW. We need to remember we're not going to a third world nation!!! Yes, bottled water is expensive there. But, is lugging your own water, in a checked bag, in order to save some money, really worth the aggravation of other people if those bottles break open? Many here have reported getting their luggage at baggage claim only to find it to be soaked!!! And it wasn't raining at any point in their travels.

I can't imagine backing a case of water in my checked bags. But then again, I pack very lightly to begin with. I did pack a bottle of wine once...and that bottle took up about 1/4 of my checked bag I packed it so well!!!

Back in the day of free bags, we always took an extra bag for the return trip and filled it with disposable items & snacks for flight there. HOWEVER, I always made sure that it was packaged so that leaks would not be a problem for me or other bags around mine.

To each his own. A case of water for $2 beats 24 x $3 for water at Disney. That savings pays for a meal for many families. The Budget Board :worship: savings of $70!

To each his own.

I would look into shipping it to to the resort, if you really feel you need it.

I would leave that case home, and look into having Costco, Office Max, or Office Depot ship a case of water to your resort instead. No risk of leakage.
