We go to Miami before Disney for a formal family event..I have to bring formal clothes for four of us plus all our Disney clothes..stressing out. I am a pretty seasoned packer but have not had to do this much into two suitcases (or we have to get a bigger rental car) any packing tips? He about for trying to keep dresses and suit from being wrinkled too much? Don't have a garment bag :(.

I packed our family of 4 for a trip overseas for 19 days with 4 different unpacking points into 3 suitcases, and it included dress up clothes!

My advice, roll your clothes. I tightly rolled all of our clothes and it made it so much easier to get everything into the suitcases. For our dressy clothes, I very carefully made sure they were flat without creases, folded inward until I got a rectangle shape (for the sportcoat, made sure the sleeves were folded in without any wrinkles or creases, etc.) and then rolled them up as well, making sure I wasn't rolling any wrinkles into the clothes.

It worked really well to get everything into the suitcases, I also used packing cubes to separate out clothes that we would need at our shorter stops at the beginning of the trip so that I didn't have to touch the other suitcases or contents of suitcases that we didn't need. It actually made it decently doable!

I roll clothes too...maybe ship the formals down to Miami (if that's an option, like for a family wedding?) And then you can just shove them in your return trip suitcases, since it won't matter anymore...

Do you have enough space to put your clothes in a large plastic bag and lay that across the top of your other bags, or even in the space where the window meets the back of the backseat?

I've used black plastic garbage bags, just poke a hole in the bottom to put your hangar through it and it acts just like the plastic bag you get after you dry clean your clothes.

This only works if you're driving the entire way and don't have to fly.

Put the formal clothing into individual plastic dry-cleaning bags when packed; it helps prevent wrinkles. Plan to use the iron in your hotel room to do some touching-up, however. Put the rest of your clothing in space bags to compress it, but be careful of weight limits.

I'd advise bringing along a pre-labeled shipping box and some tape. Box up the formal clothing after the event and ship it back to your workplace where it can safety await your return. This way you won't have to deal with that extra baggage while you are on the WDW leg of your trip.

Excellent ideas! Thanks. We will be flying and a bit of driving. Going to see if my inlaws can help take at least my husbands suit.

We use packing cubes... Since I've found them, it has been so much easier at the hotel. We each have our own color - so very easy to grab what you need or put the whole thing in a drawer.

This prob won't help with the formal wear though. Have no idea how to conquer that! Good luck!! Have a great trip!!
