We use the packing cubes also...a different color for each family member. I bought the sets of 3 different sizes. The smallest holds underwear and socks for 8 days. I unpack the matched outfits and place them in one of the hanging sweater holders and each morning I refold the worn clothing and place in the empty cubes for the return trip home; it makes for a quick repack that last night.

I have the Vera Bradley organizer that works great, they have a hanger style hook, so you can hang on the closet rod out of the way when not in use. Somewhere I picked up some plastic Disney themed cups, we use them, to put our toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors in on the sink, each one is different so everyone know who's is who's. I also bring the little throw away cups for rinsing after brushing.

What about a collapsible cooler to take into the parks for DD, with juice boxes, and snacks. I have one that I still use for just DH and I when we travel, great for the car, pool side, at the water parks etc... I would bring 2 or 3 frezzy gel pack things to rotate out.

When DD's were little, I always would bring a boxes of baggies with us each trip one small and one large. DH was like... what is this for.... I would put a few empty ones in our day bag, wet or dirty clothes, rain ponchos, half eaten snacks, to put our camera, phones in when on water rides the list goes on and on. We were in Cozumel on a day trip, and we bought the pictures from our trip, and DH said.. I wish we had a baggie to protect them from the sand and water, I pulled one out of my day bag and we just laughed, old habits die hard.

To keep snacks from being all over the room, I use one of the fabric fold bins to store snacks in, also don't forget the chip clips.

We are a family of 5, so I'd go broke doing ziplocks for every day - I do a modified version. I stack everything up from jammies on top--->last day, including undies, socks etc with each days' clothes, one stack per person. With all of our stacks in our big suitcase, (I usually wedge our toiletry bag in there too), it fits just right without any shifting. I second (fourth? fifth?) the laundry bag for dirties. This will be our longest stay in a while, so I've scoped out pics of the room (POR-AB) and already thought about what I plan to put where . I've heard a hang up sweater organizer helps to give you more 'shelf' space. Doesn't seems there's much in the way of drawers in the rooms.

Can you hang these without getting in trouble? I understand on DCL you cannot use them...is there a different hotel policy?

I have taken them on all my cruises so I don't know why DCL would say you can't hang it on the bathroom door LOL but I have NEVER heard of a hotel saying no and I carry it everywhere we travel.

I pre bagged snacks like cheerios and gold fish crackers in zip lock bags and put them in our luggage and carry-on bags. Then each day I just had to grab a bag or 2 for the parks. It saved me time in the morning when we were trying to get 2 little boys ready for the parks plus they consider cheerios a "treat" so they didn't ask for sugary snacks while we were on vacation.

In addition to packing cubes, get a pop up hamper and put by the door. Keep hats, pool toys, sunglasses and whatever you need to grab on the way to the pool.

I've got a foldable bin for toiletries to put on the sink (at CBR), laundry bags and a hanging 3-compartment thing for the closet area.

I've learned GREAT tips from here on stuff to bring, so any thoughts appreciated!

Don't forget to bring a nite light for the bathroom. I also pack small disposable bathroom cups; squeezable applesauce; small snack packs like animal cookies; cereal packets and breakfast bars; water bottles - can ask for free ice water at the parks; large ziplock bag for phones on the water rides;and throw away rain ponchos.

Make sure that what you need for the first day is in your carry on, or if you're driving, in a separate bag.

I always travel with a tiny power strip. I don't think it is problem in Disney hotels but one time we stayed in a place that had next to no plugs, we had to leave the bathroom light on all night and use a plug in there, never again.

I love the ziploc bags (there are 3 of us and I buy a box a month to store until we need them) the key for me is bringing a sharpie and each day when we get undressed we put everything back in the bag it came from and I write the word dirty on it. This keeps the clutter down and makes it soo easy when it is time to pack up for home (I usually do have to resqueeze some air out).

DCL banned them as they were marking up the doors.

I fold up extra tote bags in my suitcase. Useful for bringing things down to the pool.

I used to pack clothing per day in a large ziploc bag until I was introduced to packing cubes. I have the Dot&Dot ones and so far they have been very useful in organizing our luggage.

I use Eagle Creek products rather than packing cubes, but I keep everything that's, "Odd," in those. Regular shirts and pants go straight into the suitcase. No children, but when I was one, I had my own suitcase or duffel bag to keep stuff separate from everyone else's (there were three of us ... this was important).

I also keep my electronics in a separate bag that I use every time I travel, so every item has a place: cell chargers, laptop chargers, laptop, cameras, camera chargers, et cetera. Cords are tied up with ThinkTank Red Whips and go into a case just for cords, and also carry a portable power strip (the now discontinued Monster Outlets to Go) in a compartment with international adapters. Also, I have separate travel and home versions of all of the above, right down to camera battery chargers, so I never need to take any of my stuff from home - it keeps me from forgetting anything, and also ensures that if I leave something somewhere, it's not my only one.

In the last year we've made a few changes in what we bring with us, not really how we pack it. We've stopped trying to carry around a power strip with all the usb power adapters to charge things and have one of those 5 or 6 port high powered adapters. It's a lot less space and you can fast charge everything really easy. We use them at the house though so we just bring one we use on a daily basis with us. For work reasons I always have to have a laptop with me so we've started to bring an hdmi cable and use it for some video entertainment on the tvs. Also great to save your photos from the day or even go over them on the tv with the larger screen if that interests you.

Also the online stores are really reliable in shipping things so a lot of stuff we don't pack and ship down. With the way airlines keep changing what you ahve to pay extra for with baggage, it helped reduce the number of bags we bring and we ship down things we normally wouldn't bring. Some Toiletries, Sunscreen, Laundry soap, a small coffee pot (if using a value hotel without one), coffee, tea (you can make hot water in a coffee pot), some food items you just add hot water, some breakfast items/snacks. We like to time this to arrive 1-2 days before us. It's come in handy for a couple resorts when your package is nowhere near your room. You just checkin, go get your package, borrow a cart and you get your package + everyone luggage/carryons if needed. To get the family setup we tend to head back to get any drink cups (if we're getting them) and return the cart so it's a really simple get yourself situated and ready for the week(s) your there. We do save the box(es) until we leave as there was 1 time we decided to ship some stuff back home, including some gifts we baught there since it was cheaper than adding a bag to get home.

I will second the packing cubes. My daughter has a set of "medium size" ebag packing cubes. The medium size can actually fit more than one outfit (she wears clothing in kids XL or women's S), so if you want to go with the "one outfit in each bag" idea you may want to go with a smaller size. I think they actually create more space in your suitcase. I used one of them myself on my last trip and was able to fit 5 rolled up t-shirts and two pairs of shorts folded up on top all in one bag. I liked it so much I am going to get more.

To keep the room organized, I really prefer to unpack and find places to put things away. The ironing board, if set up on its lowest position, makes a nice sized shelf below hanging clothes. Shoes get lined up below it. That "shelf" frees up a drawer or two. Luggage goes above the clothes rack. Snacks go in the night stand. We found the Port Orleans vanities had ample storage both below the sink and on the shelf above it, so the sink top stayed clear. There is also a shelf across the back of the tub for shower toiletries. I pack a few clothes pins to hang swimsuits on the bathroom clothesline, a popup hamper, and a dozen hangers from the dry cleaner (recycle when leaving hotel). A couple of small Manila envelopes keeps receipts corralled. Have not needed hanging sweater shelves or a hanging shoe rack.
