Hi! Last trip to WDW was last June with all four kids. I packed EVERYTHING, I overpacked. So this next trip, in 21 days :cool1: I don't want to overpack again, so here is my question. What do you consider an absolute necessity for a trip to WDW? This trip will be just DH and I celebrating our 15th anniversary and staying at the Boardwalk. Thanks :earsboy:

One pair of comfortable shoes (I wish I could make my wife understand that) and lots of shorts and tee-shirts.

Women?!?!?

My wife will pack 5 pair of shoes and wear the same ones every day :confused3

We'll be going to WDW in September and she's packs coats for her and the kids :rotfl2:

But who is the one that gets to lug everything around. :scared:

For just the two of you:

* Bathing suits (wouldn't want to miss the hottubs)
* A nice pair of dress slacks or capris with two tops (for romantic dinners alone)
* One pair of comfy walking shoes for parks
* One pair of dressier sandals for dinners
* Pretty lingerie for your trip alone :rolleyes1
* Comfy and cool shorts and tops for daytime
* Rainjacket

That should do it. How long are you staying?

We will be there 8/13-8/18. I have the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, the Wildlife Discovery Excursion, Cirque de Soleil, Fantasmic Dinner Package, Breathless Illuminations Cruise and anniversary dinner with mini-wedding cake at the Yachtsman all booked.

We have been in June when it was really hot and in March when it was nice weather. I packed way too much for the March trip. I ended up wearing the same 2 pairs of denim capris and the same pair of jeans the whole week. I was lucky and didn’t spill anything on them. For a summer trip I would pack 2 pairs of shorts and 2 shirts for each day. Also double underwear too. That way you can head out to the parks in the morning and stay until it gets really hot then head back to the resort to cool off, shower, rest, etc. Then, when you want to go out for the evening you have nice fresh clothes to put on. As for shoes, I would pack one pair of walking shoes and one pair of sandals. Then if the walking shoes get wet you have something to change to.

We always overpack (my dh is worse then me) and we do laundry when we are there. I always need to have at least 5 prs. of shoes/sandals. Last year we went to Florida for 13 days, My Dh had 14 Hawiian shirts, about 10 tanks, and 10 tees. I told him since he suitcase was filled with all shirts, he will probably get a lot of attention in the parks with "no" pants on! since he has no room left in the suitcase. (he thought he was going to use my suitcase for the shorts, shoes and pants) :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: This year he said he will cut down... When I see it i'll believe it...

I would take a few skorts or shorts with cute tops, a great pair of comfy shoes. Merrill is making some in pretty colours these days - (pink, turquoise etc..) A lovely summer dress or two for dinners (Lilly or something like Lilly) and fabulous knickers for time alone!!!!

I envy you!!

Only 5 pairs Ronnie Reb? I brought eight last trip! I had a suitcase just for our shoes!

We were in FLorida for two weeks doing Disney, and visiting family and friends........Men just don't get the shoe thing! :confused3

But, I will admit I am the queen of overpacking and I did not really need all those shoes, but for some uncontrolable reason, I had to have them.

This year I am going to try really really hard to not overpack! :teeth:

I am mentally adding up the shoes I would bring, and eight pair sounds like about it. :rotfl: Now why do I need eight pairs of shoes, who knows? I have two pair of Tevas, one pair of Crocs, my Nikes, pink Merrills, flip flops for the pool and two pair of dressier sandals, now what would I leave behind? :rolleyes1
My DH is famous for saying "why so many suitcases?" so I bought this huge suitcase that ways two ton when full so I can fit everything!
I think the packing will be much easier without the kids, no need for eighteen different kinds of tylenol "just in case" etc. and while I am a clothes horse, DH is not, I will have to pack for him just to make sure he doesn't have to wear the same pair of shorts everyday.

A thought - Be careful with the "Huge" suitcase. Most airlines are now charging fees for any bag weighing over 50 pounds. It can be very expensive (More than your ticket if you aren't careful) 2 smaller bags might be safer. Just a Thought!

Thanks! As I was typing the last post I was thinking, hmmm I better make sure on size and weight restriction on Air Tran. I love the way everyone looks out for each other on the Dis :wave2:

Its a girl thing. We just like to know we have other things to wear if we want to :rolleyes1

Hmm. A "shoe" suitcase. I think maybe this thread is going to enable those of us who overpack to overpack EVEN MORE! :rotfl:

I figure we are allowed to check 6 bags and carry on three. There is no excuse to leave here with less than 9 bags! I didn't buy all that luggage so it could sit in the closet!

I wish the OP well in her pursuit of "sensible" packing!

LOVE IT! :rotfl2: We all know that Luggage gets lonely if it doesn't get to go to Disney too!

I wanted a new 6 piece set of luggage for our last trip and then decided I needed 2 sets so they would match! I have 2 DD after all!
This way I can check the 6 suitcases and have the 4 carry ons (the other 2 are small toiletries bags to go into the carry ons). It is a set(s) we can grow with (I hope).
now which one will be the shoe bag?

A shoe bag, what a great idea! I wonder if I could design a piece of luggage that would be used soley for the transportation of shoes (soley--get it :rotfl2: ) Last trip we had 10 bags in all :hyper: for a one week trip for six of us, and that was in the summer when I was packing shorts! I can't even fathom what the December trip is going to be like when I am packing cold weather clothes for everyone :scared1:
I think part of my problem is that I like to be super prepared (read type A) and I read all the packing lists that are out there and bring it all. Last trip I didn't even touch the three different kinds of bug spray I brought along!

I always overpack. I was determined in June not to overpack for family of four. Well we would have been fine except the weather was so hot & it rained everyday. So there was no chance of rewearing anything. I ended up doing two loads of wash in the middle of the week in the afternoon. It wasnt a big deal but not what I had planned. We each really needed two outfits per day.

I told my husband that I wanted to only have carryon's. He rolled his eyes and said it isn't going to happen. The two of us are going for 5 nights early Dec. I figured pack two pairs of long pants, maybe 3 long sleeved shirts, one pair shoes, 2 sets underwear, a pair of shorts, a couple t-shirts, shaving and other personal gear... each. Travel unbrellas. Cloth hats. That should only take up two carryon's, right? I do plan to hand wash clothes every night, it only takes a few minutes. I also plan to carry on a large handbag.

oops- forgot about heavy sweaters and windbreakers, guess we'd wear those.

I guess my idea is unrealistic, and it would mean dragging the carryons around at the airport.

My husband always says, "Why are you bringing all that crap?" as I pack three suitcases for the three of us. He just packs his wallet! :rotfl:
