Here I am Saturday night - We are leaving Tuesday morning for Disney Yaaa!! Anyway we are using ME so I am bringing a carry-on with our bathing suits so that we can swim right away. Can I pack one tube of sunscreen in the carry-on for all of us (we are a family of 6 so 3 oz won't cut it)? We really need the sunscreen from the get go as one of the us is a fair-skinned 15 month old. I was doing sooo well, feeling sooo organized and then this thawned on me!!! Can anyone help?:confused3:confused3:confused3

No - the 3 oz rule applies to sunscreen as well. However, as a family of 6 - you are not limited to 1 three oz container. I have taken 2 three ounce containers filled with sunscreen in the past. You can separate a few into a couple/few people's quart sized bags. That's probably your best bet.

OR

You can plan to pay a bit much to buy sunscreen at your resort (MIGHT be the same as buying 2 or 3 three ounce containers in which to put your sunscreen - might be a wash there).

OR

Ask a nice person at the pool for a couple handfuls of sunscreen. We have done this and people are ALWAYS happy to help, but with a family of 6 this might not be ideal! :) You might use up more than you plan to. But this would work at least for the most important 15 mon old.

I think a couple three ounce containers should get you through until your checked bags get there. Depending on the kind you use - 3 ounces usually goes a lot longer than you think. We've used a single 3 ounce container for all 4 of us (putting much more on the kids than the 2 adults) and been fine for a couple hours.

OMG!!! I am so glad you mentioned this!!! I would have thrown my way too expensive huge bottle of sunscreen in my carry-on and never given it another thought until some security guy made me throw it out. Thank you! I am going out to buy a small bottle for my bag. :worship:

Hmm, thats a good one. I travel by air very frequently and have a flight attendant in my family so I have learned a trick or two. I have seen many people needlessly lose half empty containers of facial toner, facial cremes, shampoo...and the list goes on!

``What's a woman to do?`` you say, as you are ready to wallop the security check guard lol. Well I have many travel shampoos that I simply reuse and refill with my own brands for everything I might need..some shampoo here, toner & creme there, toothpaste. For smaller quantities you could head to the pharmacy or dollar store and they always have these small containers for pills that you can buy. The smaller they are, the more you can fit into that clear super tiny airport ziploc. And ziplock goes a long way as well. They dont care how much you have as long as each individual container (or ziplock) has less than 100ml in it and it fits in the baggie!

The sunscreen can be dispersed into 2 or 3 ziplocks and you'll be good to go:thumbsup2

Wow! Thanks everyone for the great ideas, and I am glad to know that I am not the only one who almost overlooked this. Im off to the dollar store tomorrow for some small containers and I will just divy it up for everyone.:goodvibes

Just buy the kind in an aerosol can and problem solved.

Is this true? I thought that was considered a liquid and would need to be 3 oz or less....

I know I've always struggled with putting my hairspray in a carry-on for this fact.

Just wanted to say HI! We leave Tuesday morning also!

My brother left for WDW on Wednesday on his honeymoon....flew out of BWI here in Md.

He had a full-size can of spray deodorant in his carry-on. It was not allowed thru.

It looks like they are limiting the ziplocks that can go thru now too per person.

So I'm thinking you each have to have it separated into diff carryons if you do that. Maybe. I'm still trying to figure out what can and cant go on since I'm flying in 2wks.

Hi to you too!!! So exciting, isn't it!! Your gonna love the Beach Club!! We've stayed there 3 times before, and it is my dh's favorite. I am hoping we don't get too much rain; mainly because we will have the baby with us. Have a wonderful time!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

You get to take three 3oz containers of liquid or gel-like products thru security, Per Person (in a see-thru 1 Qt zip-top bag). So amongst the six of you, you should be able to bring everything you need with you. make sure they are actual 3oz or less containers. A half full 6oz container, for example, will not be allowed through.

As far as sunscreen goes, there are also sunscreen wipes I've seen in the travel section at Target and Walmart. You might take a look at those as well.
Those wouldn't be considered a liquid.

You can buy sunscreen wipes or solid stick sunscreen. Then you don't have to worry about it.
You'll only need them for that first part of the first day. You could even apply your regular sunscreen before you left home that morning, refresh it with sunscreen wipes at the pool in WDW and then you'll have your bags in 3 hours or so anyway, if you still needed your big bottles of sunscreen.
Keep in mind that they do sell sunscreen right at the resort, and since it is vacation, it's okay to pay the extra $3.00!!

I took 2 cans of aerosol sunscreen to Jamaica in January. Was fine, because it is not a "liquid", it's a dry spray. And I've never had issues with hairspray as long as it is in a can, not the pump kind.

Thanks for bringing this up! We leave Friday morning and I hadn't thought about sunscreen going through security.

I had to throw away a bottle of good hairspray last December so I would be careful with spray sunscreen. I have some sunscreen wipes and a 3oz bottle that will work until the luggage arrives.

Thanks again for the reminder!

WHO~Weeee!

Have a safe and fun trip. Let em know we will be there soon!

No, actually that's won't do it. The aerosol cans of sunblock are a liquid while in the can, and the standard-size can is 6 or 8 ounces. (Occasionally I've seen mini-cans that hold 2 ounces in stores, but not often.) Also, being as how that can is aluminum, you are not getting through with it unnoticed, as you might with a plastic tube in the pocket of some cargo shorts -- not that I'm suggesting you try that, either.

Ever since the beginning of the 3-1-1 rule, it has always specified that each ticketed passenger is allowed ONE quart-size baggie for toiletries, but you can put as many 3-oz or smaller containers into the baggie as you like, provided that the baggie still seals easily and is not bulging.

If you are travelling as a family and you want one person to handle all of the toiletries baggies, it is OK to put them all in one carryon, but you should write a passenger name on each bag, to make it clear that each one belongs to a different person. Otherwise you will be questioned about having more than one, and it will slow the line.

I have to clear something up: You say I will get to take THREE 3-oz containers? I:confused3 've flown with a lot of different 3-oz containers, I just had to be sure they all fit in the baggie.

For example, I would typically pack a 3 ounce bottle of shampoo, a second one for conditioner, a third for my moisturizer, a small toothpaste, a small container of facial cleanser. That's more than three containers!

And this link has a picture of a baggie with more than just three containers.

I don't want people to misunderstand this. :teacher:
