Well my trip is 1 month and 2 weeks away and I'm getting so very excited!! I have a question though that someone may be able to answer for me.

I tend to get very chilly on airplanes and buses and I was wondering if ABD supplied blankets on the bus at all or is this something that I should pack?

No, there are no blankets supplied on the buses. I would also bring a sweatshirt, the weather in Ireland is so unpredictable, it was really cold at night and bring an umbrella or rain jacket. I did this tour in 2011 and it rained every single day, but despite the rain one of the best trips I have ever taken

Thanks for the quick response. This is a good thing to know. Blankets will now go on my list for my bus carry on! I know this is one of those trips that kinda crucifies you with packing because you can literally pack for every type of weather pretty much. I'm going to take the onion approach, but I'll bring a little of everything. I'm sure I'll overpack as usual.

Hi there! We are currently doing our Ireland ABD and we are having a blast so far! You will have Kelley and Jackie as your guides and they are wonderful! If they will be using the same coach, it doesn't get as cold as the one in the US but bring a blanket if you have low cold tolerance. The weather is just right for me. We had sunshine since the ABD started and did not rain till we got to Dromoland Castle. At this moment it is cloudy but will rain later today.

Wow! You have just made me 10 times more excited for my trip now!! I'm thrilled that you are enjoying it so far. Another quick question then, are there laundry opportunities during your travels? Coin operated that is and not 15$ an item ones. heheh

Hello Tufbuf,

So glad that you are enjoying your stay at Dromoland Castle.

Have you had The Banquet At Bunratty Castle ?

If not then you should .

There is more rain on the way but it is warm.

I was in Kinsale ,Co Cork , this evening at a meeting and it was warm.

As you look out the windows of your Coach look at the many colours of the fields........ A patchwork sight of greens & gold.

Enjoy the rest of your Trip .

Hello BrennaM

You will be here in August....well the weather is .... What ever it will be.

It should be good .... as it is supposed to be summer.

We live in Co. Cork .. but leave for Orlando at the end of August.

Bring change of shoes .. Light Sweater, Cap & light jacket

And have Fun .

Thanks for the suggestions Woodview! Have a great time in Orlando! Say hi to Mickey for me.

Your best bet would be in Dublin. Killarney May have one but in Dromoland Castle, you either wash yourself or have the hotel do your laundry. We used easy drying REI clothing and we have been washing them daily. Just a suggestion.

Hello! We had our dinner at Bunratty Castle last night. It was most extraordinary!! The food was good, dining was interesting and the entertainment superb! I'd leave it at that so as not to spoil the experience for others. We are now getting ready for the farewell dinner. Cliffs of Moher were stunning and we soooooo lucked out on the weather on this trip! It was extremely foggy this morning, pouring on the way to the cliffs and it magically stopped when we started our climb to view it. The sun even shone!!! Amazing!!!

Thanks so much! Great to know about Dromoland. I figured Dublin would be fairly easy and I can get by without Killarney. Would just be nice to be able to pack a little less if we were able. We will see what we end up deciding.

Ok, I endorsed you to them so I hope they remember!! It's a fun trip esp if you have Irish roots. We don't but it was still a very interesting trip for us. We had fabulous weather and an amazing group. Just a warning, your ghost tour will be creepier.... ;)

Ooo now you have me really intrigued!! Thanks so much for all your help/responses. I didn't think I could have gotten any more excited but low and behold my ABD boxes arrived yesterday!!! I'm in the home stretch, but sorry that you are finishing up. Have a safe trip home and thanks again.

Oh, don't feel too bad for tufbuf! ;) She's on her way to Scotland to do the second half of her Ireland/Scotland back-to-back ABDs! :cloud9:

Looking forward to your reports on Scotland, tufbuf! Be sure & leave some of that great weather for me!

Sayhello

Oh my!! Now I'm super jealous!! I've been to Scotland, not through ABD though, and it is absolutely beautiful.
