DD9 is a VERY picky eater. can I pack the individual packs of jello and/or pudding in my checked bag or will they explode? I would double ziploc them incase of a spill

I have never tried taking the individual cups, but I have packed things that I didn't want crushed like cereal cups, pop tarts, etc... What I did, and it worked pretty well I might add, is I put them inside of plastic storage containers. You need to use something that is a more rugged plastic than the glad or ziploc disposables. They're not strong enough. I bought some rubbermaid plastic containers on clearance and used them. You could also use old tupperware. If you don't have any, maybe you could get some at a yard sale. I know I've seen lots of old tupperware on the cheap at yard sales around here. Plus if you buy it that way, you could just pitch it and have the extra room on the way home for your souvies. ;)
Just a thought.... HTH :goodvibes

Why not use a grocery service and have your stuff delivered to your resort?

Its not worth it to pay a $15 delivery fee for $3.00 worth of jello/pudding

I'm not sure about pudding/jello but I just packed a bunch of the soup that you take off the foil cover and put the lid back on and cook in the microwave and it made the trip in my checked luggage just fine.

My dad once took a jar of pickles (:confused3 ), and the whole thing exploded all over everything in his suitcase!:scared: Needless to say, he was not happy! :goodvibes

Jello now makes Jello pudding singles. They remind me of those drink flavorings you put in a bottle of water but you mix these with half a cup of milk. They come in choc. and vanilla. You could get those and just buy the milk there. They mix up pretty easy. We use a tupperware deal and shake it to mix it. It tastes just like any othe jello pudding...

I don't think the pickle jar exploded, but rather it broke when the gorilla jumped on the suitcase (remember that TV commercial?) or when someone else tried to squeeze his suitcase into the overhead bin next to yours.

Jell-O and similar materials can suffer the same fate.

For those considering shipping a dozen pack of bottled water via checked luggage, do be aware that water is quite heavy and sometimes the inertia of 11 of the bottles behind it could rupture the 12'th bottle.

Last summer I took both applesauce and pudding singles in my suitcase. The important thing is to make sure that you place them lid to lid so that nothing else can puncture the top foil/plastic and cause a leak (have had that happen. I chose to pack mine in a small tupperware container and then in a plastic baggy just in case. Hope that helps! ;)

I agree about packing items inside the ziploc baggies --- it's a good idea for anything that is potentially messy - pudding, jello, applesauce.

I packed applesauce singles, too. I kept them in the original packaging and that gave the lids some protection. I put anything that might make a mess in a waterproof baggie, whether it's sunblock, applesauce or rum!

I don't know if it gets quite so hot in Florida, but when a jar of jam broke inside my suitcase in India while in transit it quite literally baked into a solid mass making clean up quite easy.

Unfortunately for the next month the bugs found my suitcase quite fascinating. :scared:
