Packing Panic

To compensate for my late packing I woke up early today so I had time to make sure I have everything. I woke up this morning and was like "what do I have to do? Everything is packed...I'm all set". So I twiddled my thumbs for the next couple hours until time to leave for the airport.

Then I had another last minute panic session when I went to go put the Magical Express tags on my luggage. As I looked at what I assumed was two tags folded in half, I realized it was actually 1 long tag folded in half. But I have two suitcases! I knew from reading the boards and/or listening to the podcast that you can just give them your baggage claim check and they will take care of it. But it made me more nervous not having that bright yellow tag on the bag. Luckily when we came back to the room after dinner at Jiko both bags were in the room!

I have almost forgotten to tag the luggage more than once. They have started only sending one tag per person. I knew we were checking more than 3 bags so when I made the reservation I told them I needed 2 tags per person just to be safe. So they sent extras. In a completely separate envelope.

How was dinner??

Dinner was good. This was my second time dining at Jiko. We each got complimentary cauliflower soup. It was really good. I think we got them b/c we're staying at AKL. For an appetizer we shared the seared ostrich. It was yummy. My entree was the barbecue beef short ribs. We shared the Jiko trio for dessert.

We need to try Jiko again one of these days. The first (and only) time we ate there the waiter was kind of a pompous jerk.

Mmmmmmmm Jiko!
My fave at WDW.

Our waiter was really nice. No problems at all.

That's good!
We ate there back in 2006, so I am sure with his crappy attitude our waiter isn't there anymore! As soon as we said we weren't ordering wine he was finished with us. A party of 5 can generate a nice tip even without wine, but apparently he didn't see it that way.

I wonder how much of that has to do with the dining plan. If I'm not mistaken back then tip was included in the dining plan. So most servers, I assume, would want people to rack up a large bill so the automatic tip is larger. And as you said, a nice tip can be generated even without wine but most servers tend to rush you if you don't get a drink and just assume it's not going to be a big tip.

We had the dining plan that trip, but unless I am mistaken the meal at Jiko was OOP. It was one of our very last dinners and I don't think we had enough credits to cover it. Anyway, the guy was definitely NOT my favorite server!

I usually pack all my toiletries 2 days before leaving, and all the clothes the day before. I tend to be one of those people who get nervous that he's going to forget something, but I still wait until the day before......I just worry, panic and check/double-check/triple-check to make sure I have everything right before I head out the door. (And even then I forgot my plane ticket a few years ago. :rolleyes1)

Hm..impressive.
12 hours until we have to leave - not packed a thing yet, unable to concentrate. As long as I have the tickets and my Visa Card nothing can happen. I guess......:rotfl:

HOLY CRAP!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

12 DAYS! The Packing Mandate says 12 DAYS!! NOT 12 hours!!!

Pack, boys! Pack!!!!

Okay I am officially all packed and I leave tonight to go stay with my mom since she's so much closer to the airport. I am flying out of an airport 2 hours away because my ticket was only $150.00 all in.

Anyway, I NEVER wait till the last minute but I did. Hopefully I didn't forget anything but only time will tell! I am normally a week early on packing, but I guess the holiday caught me off guard since I went out of town for it too.

Oh well, as long as I have clean underwear each day I'm fine!
