Packing Lists....

I have found the best tip here!! Pack and ship!!! I usually do 2 med. size boxes that I ship down:
Breakfast type food-we get milk at the resort store
granola bars
snax
water bottles
juices
gum

paper plates/bowls
pop-up hamper
.25s for laundry
small detergent and dryer sheets
clothes pins
over the door organizer bag
sunscreen
hand soap for bathroom sink
small travel shampoos
" " body washes
Los of ZIPLOCK bags, sm and lg.
travel toothbrushes and toothpaste

You get the idea!! Anything that will fit in those boxes after the food stuff gets shipped. I just check that stuff off my packing list and it goes out about 3 days before we leave. Most of it is used up on our trip, and the rest we either throw out (tiny shampoos, etc.) or repack. I too bring an extra suitcase for goodies , so it all fits.
I do laundry about the 4th day-everyone needs a break by then, so dh either takes the kids to the pool or they hang out in the room or whatever, and I get the laundry done. To me, clean clothes are so much easier to pack.

Also, where do you buy lanyards & what all do you put in them? How much are they-generally?

Wow! How great is this! Now if only I had someone to pack for all of us!

Actaully tonight I think I am going to get abox out and start putting abunch of the odd and end stuff in there to make it easier down the road.

Thanks again

I bought a billion bottles of gatorade, and put them into 2 small suitcases. I am considering shipping them, instead. Who do you use, to ship? UPS? Wouldn't it cost like $30 to ship a box of stuff through them?

Ever have any water bottles or juices break/leak?

You could just buy the Gatorade Mix-Ins & a re-fillable bottle for each family member. It would be a lot cheaper & easier. We use these (and Propel and Crystal Light ones) and they taste exactly the same & is very easy.

Where have you found the Gatorade Mix-ins? I have been looking to see if there was such a product and have not been succussful.

Please let me know, I would be so happy!

Thanks!

I gave up on the hunt for the Gatorade mix ins. I did get Crystal Light ones, for the water we ordered from Garden Grocer. But before I decided to order from them, I had already bought a giant flat of Gatorade bottles from BJs Wholesale Club. I ended up putting several bottles per Ziplock bag, and then put all the ziplocked bags into a suitcase. I wrapped non-clothing soft items (like over-door shoe holder) around the ziplock bagged Gatorades. If I dont' take those Gatorades to WDW, I will never have another use for them.

Ah well...at least we'll drink them up in Florida, and not have to bring them back!!

subbing, our trip is coming up so fast now and I feel so not ready in the packing department!

this thread rocks!

thanks to one and all

Our local Wal-Mart sells them. I find it so odd you can't find them. We have this HUGE Mix-In section with all kinds of stuff. They also make packets of Gatorade (like for a 5 gallon orange thing) and we used that before we found these. Plus we also all like Propel, which is just like Gatorade without the calories (same company) and they sell those at every grocery store I've been in.

Oh well, since you bought them all you might as well pack them. I really notice a difference when it is hot in my kid's energy level if I give them Gatorade vs. just plain water. All that sweat really does get rid of electrolites and they need replaced.

Taxi mom- I do ship through UPS, and it usually runs around $26 or so. But you gotta remember, that's 2 boxes FULL! They are so heavy most of the time I can barely tote them in the store. It may not be worth it for you to do it that way-if you are wanting those extra suitcases for when you get there, but if something did bust, I want it to NOT be in my suitcase;)
Hope this helps ya!!

Some great lists and tips here. :thumbsup2

One thing I want to mention - although this was several years ago, the airlines have gotten worse, not better. On a trip to Bermuda, my suitcase was "lost" by the airlines. It showed up at the hotel the next day, but not before leaving me without any changes of clothes until then. Now, I make sure to pack some of everyone's clothing in each suitcase, that way if 1 piece of luggage is lost, they will still have clothes in the other bags. Now that my kids are older (if they come with us at all) they hate to do that, but one day they will be sorry:rotfl2:

Also, been there in late Nov/early Dec. Nice weather during the day - you could use shorts, but it does get chilly at night once the sun goes down. :scared:

Those are pretty helpful! :D Too bad I can't use any of it. =/ I live only about 45 minutes from Disney here in Florida. Well, actually I can use the packing part, but not carry on. ^^;

From one of the posters here. Sorry I can't remember your name but thanks muchly for this list!!!! :thumbsup2

There are some great lists over here...the alpha list is different...I just don't pack that way...I pack EVERYTHING into a bag of some sort. I use a lot of Ziploc bags. I like the thought of security opening my bag to find a bag full of see through plastic bags! I know you may randomly have to look at my bag, but Please don't touch my stuff!!!:scared: I sort my packing list accordingly, because I have an electronics bag, toiletry bags, food bags, etc. DS has one outfit in a gallon sized Ziploc bag...shorts, shirt, socks, underwear. No decisions, grab a bag and go!:thumbsup2

So, for our trip...Sun, Aug 19 to Sat Aug 25 at Beach Club, with water parks, for DH, DW, and DS6, I have started the following list...

Packing List

Electronics:

DW cell phone
DH cell phone

Enjoy!:goodvibes

I got Ziplock Big bags (XL size), and gallon-sized ziplocks. I put 3 Gatorades into each Gallon-size bag, then put lots of those into 2 of the XL Big Bags...now every Gatorade is Double Ziplock Bagged. THAT should do it!! And the XL Big Bags will be good for dirty laundry! One for dry, and one for wet...

Crossing fingers that no suitcases get lost...LOTS of effort into packing JUST RIGHT!!

Personally, I use this one. I find it has everything I need. http://www.mousesavers.com/timeismoney.html#packing (in the yellow box click on Disney Vacation Ultimate Packing List. It's a word document.)

I totally agree with this one, I just came back from the shore (everything page wasn't neccessary for that trip) but it helped SO much, right down to the turn off water, set timer... I will be using this one when we go in a few weeks.:yay:

My DD3 is afraid of the automatic flush toilets, so I will bring post-it notes to stick over the sensor until she is ready to flush...

speaking of flushing I always bring scented bathroom spray

That is a great idea! :thumbsup2 My 5 year old daughter is terrified of the automatic toilets, too. I usually just hold my hand over the sensor until she is done. She can be prancing around for an hour and if there are auto toilets, she will not go unless I cover the sensor. I appreciate you don't have to actually flush, but I think they're more of a headache than what they're worth.

Subscribing! Thanks guys for the reminders about all the paperwork! I would also like to remind people it can be a good idea to get your spending money broken into different types of currency (ie. cash, check, travelers checks, credit cards, debit) in case you lose one you'll have a back up. One note on that I went to my bank to get some travelers checks just so I had some just in case, and they told me a lot of businesses all around the country don't even take them anymore because they are so easy to duplicate, and that I could just as easily get a visa backed gift card that you pay cash for in advance (ie you pay $500 cash up front and you get a card with $500 on it to spend wherever you want)

Thanks for all the great tips and lists, keep them coming!

Amazon.com has a huge selction of grocery items & shipping is usually free if the total is more than $25. One case of water/juice/gatorade and a case of diapers & you are set! Note: they sell the grocery items in bulk, but a large group can go through quite a bit of snack items.
