packing liquids?

Do you tape them closed with normal tape?? (Wraping a gift, clear tape) or do you use heavy tape??

I just use plain old scotch tape and toss the roll in my bag for the return trip.

Thanks! I am doing the tape the bottles closed, then plastic shoebox also taped shut. Never can be too careful! :thumbsup2

actually the most up to date info is:
Travel size liquids, aeresols etc can be taken on board as long as they are approximately 3 ounces or less, and sealed in a one quart ziploc type bag. It will need to be run seperately through the x-ray.
For those of you who like to keep these items with you (and they are travel sized).......you'll be all set!
Does anyone know if the 3 oz liquid has to be in the original bottle, or is it okay to transfer to a 3 oz travel container that you label with what is in it?
Does anyone know where the best place would be to get 3 oz travel size containers? Target only had 4 oz.

The 3 oz they are talking about is for your carry on. I believe they have to be in the original bottle or tube, too (only on your carry on)....but I am sure someone will be along who has just done this, and can tell you for sure if it needs to be in the original package.

after being on hold for half an hour I got two answers direct from TSA - (both of which I was right on. ;) )

1) The bottles do NOT have to be marked/original bottles. (But don't use a bottle that holds more than 3 oz - even if it's not full.)

2) It is a maximum of 3 oz PER BOTTLE.

As I researched (and posted) prior to this post - fitting "comfortably" in the clear zip top bag means that the bag is not stretched/pulled tight and that it closes easily - no straining of the bag or zip lock area at all. The items do not have to be in a single layer.

I love my Paul Mitchell mousse and consider it to be essential to my happiness on the trip AND just expensive enough to not be "disposable"-- SO: is it going to be ruined by dpressurizing or whatever when it is checked?

I don't think a 3 oz one will get me through the week, I'd rather bring (and check) full size if it won't ruin it)

I packed a frieda corrective styling mousse in checked bag once, and it wasn't the same, but it was still useable (if I'm remembering right).

How much would it cost you to ship a bottle to your hotel?

Also, if you have time, try to get a bottle down to an amount that will be good for one week's worth, so if it does ruin, you're not ruining a full bottle :thumbsup2

Thanks-- good thoughts, there.

I am thinking that I might be shipping a box of hair toiletries...
