I plan on packing some liquid detergent to wash some clothes while on vacation so we don't have to pack as much, do you think it will be a problem when they scan the luggage?

I don't know about scanning. We took the purex all in ones and they were much easier to deal with. And light weight.

Another vote for the purex sheets. They are washing powders and dryer sheets all in one. We use them on every Disney trip, and they work great!

If anyone could see what one of our suitcases looked like after being handled by Delta at the Atlanta airport a couple of weeks ago, you would rethink packing liquids in your suitcase. It looked like it had been thru a giant shredder. Everything inside was ripped and torn, and had puncture holes throughout. I can't imagine what giant machinery it got stuck in. I know that doesn't happen very often, but it does occasionally. If there had been liquids in that bag, it would have been even more disasterous!

I am a loyal Tide person, but when I go to Disney I use the Purex Sheets. Once hotel I stay at has the smaller machines so I cut them in half.

I have also bought the single use Tide packets in the travel section at Target, but ususally only bring those on vacation when I am driving.

There shouldn't be any scanning problems in checked luggage. Heck, my mother packs enough 'liquid' for a weeks woth of Cosmos... :rotfl:

Packing liquid detergent seems like a disaster waiting to happen. They sell detergent in the laundry rooms or the Purex sheets are great for travel.

As long as it's in checked luggage, it's fine (but triple pack it in ziploc baggies just in case it leaks). You can't take it in carry on luggage, at least not more than the allowed liquid amount.

I have brought the ALL liquid ones from the trial size/travel section in Target. Each little bottle is 2 loads of laundry. I just pack in a ziplock & put it in the checked bag. Never had a problem. I did just buy the purex sheets too thinking they would be easier.

I packed Tide liquid travel detergent packs that I found at Wal-mart in the travel section and had no problems. I did pack them in a plastic zip bag just in case they broke open in my suitcase but they arrived safely

I would not pack liquid detergent.... if your luggage gets beat up.... it could leak all over everything else in your suitcase. Pack powder detergent.

I used the sheets too while at disney, and took the dishwasher tablets. worked great, but big loads take 2 of the sheets if you want to shee bublbes

I agree with the Purex also, less hassle

I have packed liquid once & never again.

It was in our box that we shipped down. I put some in each zip lock bag (like 6 ot 8) & then put them in a larger zip lock bag followed by another one & there was seepage, luckily it was only in that first bag.

Now I just bag powder & we still ship. I would look into the purex ones if I didn't ship though.

DD has eczema and we don't want to mess with the detergent she is used to. When we fly, we pour some into 3oz empty travel containers (can buy at Target or Bed Bath & Beyond, among other places) and put it in our carry-on luggage.

They baggage belt system at airports is very hard on luggage, a thing called a kicker actually kicks your luggage to sort it by distination. Packing liquid is something I would be careful with. I am a firm believe in Tide, but for traveling I vote for Purex 3 in 1, but I add the Tide stain release tablets, just to be safe. The combo actually works pretty good and they do make both perfume and dye free for those who need it.

We just bought Tide at Publix when we went to get the water, coke and strofoam cooler.

The Purex "Pure and Clean" is hypoallergenic, but it does have perfume in it. Otherwise I'd love to use it.

I think there is no more risk in taking liquid detergent than there is in taking lotion. I'll leave it in the bag it comes in and put it in another ziploc, or if I can fit it I'll put it in a toiletry bag. It may spill, but it will be contained.

I still may get powder all free and clear, because I'm still worried about switching to a new detergent on vacation and having a reaction.

Tried purex once on vacation and son got a rash. We are a 100% tide family. I always pack the travel size tides that you can get from walmart or target for $1.

Double zip lock bag them.
