packing food

I've seen alot of threads of people talking about packing food is their suitcases. Is there any rules about bringing food across the border?

Well, you're not supposed to bring meat or fruit.vegetables with you.

Those are the main things they frown on.

Yup! According to the website above, you can even take cooked and raw chicken as long as its from Canada. They won't allow any kind of cow though (not even canned or cooked).

Water, soft drinks...all allowed. (Bring your own coke, the stuff in the states is awful.) And I know we've taken juice down too with no problems.
