I haven't been on all day, but I've glanced at the new outfits and they all look great! I love the WALL-E purse!

That's great Heather, that you're going back to WDW in Feb!! How exciting!!!

I finished a dress for my youngest daughter, and wanted to share. I bought some material and a couple of patterns the other day. But I HATED the patterns, and I realized why I don't use them. I like to do things out of my head. And I told my mom nevermind on the sewing machine, I really love to hand sew, I find it very relaxing. So I'm sticking to what I know & love! :thumbsup2

I'm very happy with it, I'm all about trim & ruffles!! The only thing I'm going to change is that it's too long, especially for FL in Sept! So I'm going to make it about 4 inches shorter and *attempt* to make a matching bow!

Ok, I'm going to join the bandwagon & say I can't believe you did this by hand! It looks great!

Okay, I whipped this up for Logan today. His measurements are almost exactly the same as Luke's :confused3 so that was easy! I had a hard time deciding on what to do for the tee shirt. I wanted to use a black one, but from what I've heard, I think black+Florida+August=:faint: So I went with white for the sake of not melting in the sun. Then I was going to just do a frayed edged applique using the same fabric as the shorts but I felt a little guilty because it would be SOOOOO easy :rotfl: So I decided to do a "real" applique. However I don't have the skillz to do much more than a Mickey head so I hope this doesn't look too dumb. Luke liked it. But he refused to open his eyes for the pictures. :sad2: The applique turned out quite well though, although some "normal" people may wonder why Lightning McQueen is in a Mickey head :lmao:

I made my oldest DD a couple of tops last week but wasn't too happy with them. She really loved one so I guess that's all that matters but the other one was a very easy McCall's pattern and it was so low in the front that my DD wouldn't (and shouldn't) wear it. I was able to add a fabric panel to it so she can wear it but I'm still disappointed in it. I don't have a picture of it yet.

SO....I decided to go back to something I know I can do. My DD(9) wouldn't wear this at home but it is perfect for the Crystal Palace. She is a HUGE Pooh fan and just loves this. It looks super cute on and DD says she likes the feel of this lined dress. Sorry for the poor cell phone image....

I think the Mickey head applique is perfect & it looks great!

I haven't been able to catch up from the last few days, but I just wanted to share my excitement with you all!!

I'M GOING TO DISNEY IN FEBRUARY 2009!!!!!!!!!

:cool1: :cool1: I am so happy for you!!!! How fun! You can never have too much WDW!:dance3: ::MinnieMo

I love the fabric!!!!! You little one is so cute! Those cheeks!

 YIPPEEEE........!!!! That is great news!!!! So will you be making some kind of Wicked Stepsisters outfit for this next adventure??? (you know...seeing as though you guys had so much fun with them at 1900 Park Faire....especially poor little Sawyer)!!!
I have NO idea what I'm going to make them! I'm leaning towards more matching outfits at the moment, but I don't know!

This thread is soo slow right now! Where is everyone? Sewing???? I cut out 65 squares for Sara Beths patchwork twirl skirt so I am about halfway there! Instead of using a rotary cutter I just made a little pattern and cut out about 8 pieces at a time.

Well, since you asked,

I WAS UPDATING MY TRIP REPORT!!!

Warning: It's a MONSTER update with over 100 pictures!

Oh yes Jeanne, that looks SOOOO DUMB! The rest of the girls on here will just tell you it's wonderful but, really, what kind of friend would I be if I let you continue on in that kind of delusion.;)
PLEASE!! If I could appliqué a mickey head I would put them on EVERYTHING!
I bet that Logan will love it!

Let me just jump in here and say that you will NEVER EVER NEVER NEVER ...NEVER catch me hand sewing. I'm far too impatient for that! It's why I don't really knit. I like the accomplishment of finishing projects far more than their actual creation. I actually only tolerate sewing, it's the planning, pattern and fabric picking and then the beaming at what I created that I love.

With that I'd like to say a fond Good Morning to my sewing sisters and brothers :goodvibes Can't wait to see what ya'll post today!

...t.

Thanks everyone who helped me    my upcoming trip!!

So, how many people are still here from the beginning? I came in on the 6th page of the 1st thread.

Well, everyone have a great day.

I came in around page 200 of the 1st thread. I just celebrated my 1st Disboutiquer anniversary last week. :cloud9:

I am SOO with you on the hand-sewing! I also like the planning and the finished product better than the actual sewing. Actually, I don't mind sewing, but I HATE cutting fabric!

It came out great! I have to keep my son away from the computer he can't see that!:confused3 Where did you get the mickey head pattern? I realize you cut the fabric to make the design but did you just draw the Mickey head?

Thanks for the compliments, it means a lot to know that others think my work looks nice!!

princessmom29- I didn't use a pattern, I just measured my daughter and cut the pieces. I just kind of created it as I went along. I can share the details, but it won't be very technical! :rotfl:

Renae
Can you please post how you did it! i hate patterns and am always trying to figure out how to do my own so I would love to hear how some one else does it. I might have to make another dress for my niece now!

OMG you sew that by hand! :worship: My MIL doe almost everything by hand I can't even begin to imagine!

I WAS UPDATING MY TRIP REPORT!!!

Warning: It's a MONSTER update with over 100 pictures!

I have a Trip Report confession:
I haven't read nay of yours or Teresa's. I don't like reading them until they are finished. Fairly selfish of me, I know but I hate spending all that time reading and getting "attached" to the writer to only have the report die before it is finished. I also have a hard time reading TR's in spurts - I forget what I have read and end up re-reading things.

Heather and Teresa, what day are you writing about now and how many more to go? I really want to read your reports.

This thread has been a little bit slow. Maybe everyone is taking their summer vacations this week. I rememeber back in the 3rd thread (or around there) it was going so fast, you had a hard time reading everything and keeping up.

So, how many people are still here from the beginning? I cam in on the 6th page of the 1st thread.

Well, everyone have a great day.

I'm still here. I posted on the first page of the first thread.

JUST WONDERED!
Has anyone noticed my new ticker?

I just finished day 2, with 12 more to go! :rotfl: I don't have as much memory of the next 12 days, so they probably won't be as long.

Come on over and start reading! I have links to each installment in my first post so you don't have to wade through the chit-chat if you don't want to.

That is so cute! Any chance we could add it to the book marks?

:rotfl:  Ok so who doesn't sew pantless! :rotfl2:

The allfreecrafts.com site was already in there, but I just added a direct link to the platypus under "Toys".

As for your 2nd question- ME!!!:rotfl:

I'm still here. I posted on the first page of the first thread.

I believe I came in on page 3 of the 1st thread.

I'm lurking today, I'm working on the Lion King dress I need to finish for Sunday. I just finished sewing together the strips for the skirt body, now it's on to the ruffle. I'm trying to get as much done as possible while Delaney's at camp today that way she and I can hang out together today.

As your new favorite poster, I feel obligated to let you know.

MY SISTER IS A FRAUD!!! Her middle name is JOYCE, not JOY!! She is a happyness imposter!!!! Oh the shame, the shame. :sad2:

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Happy Canada Day!!!!!

To all the Canadians! And anyone who needs a reason to celebrate today!!!

Stephanie

DH is Canadian. I guess I should be nice to him today :rotfl:

Thanks! I used the Mickey head pattern in the photobucket account under the patterns and templates tag. I cut and pasted it into word, switched it to landscape and made it bigger.

I can't wait to see it! I bought some Lion King sheets from :wizard: and can't wait to turn them into something! Now if only I had a nice long Disneyworld trip coming up...:sad1: Yesterday I made that Cars outfit, two pairs of cropped pants, or beach pants as we call them on our etsy site, for Luke, some 4th of July shorts for Luke and a 4th of July guitar applique tee for Seth. The strings are all messed up on the guitar but I am NOT unpicking them! From afar it looks okay. The important thing is he loves it, right? I'll try to get pictures later.

Aww your little girl is just adorable and so is that dress. I can't believe you sewed it by hand!! You did a GREAT job!!!

Ok, I'm going to join the bandwagon & say I can't believe you did this by hand! It looks great!

I love the fabric!!!!! You little one is so cute! Those cheeks!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Can you please post how you did it! i hate patterns and am always trying to figure out how to do my own so I would love to hear how some one else does it. I might have to make another dress for my niece now!

First of all, I measured my little girl across, then I added an inch to the sides and on the top. Then I cut the front top torso out, and just guessed for the armholes (told you it's not very technical!)

Then I cut out a strip that was 2 inches high and curved up on the sides to meet the front piece. I pinned them together. Then I measured my little girl and how long I thought a dress skirt should be. I used the width of my material and cut the height. I pleated it using guesswork and pinned 2 pieces (one in front and one in back) to the top pieces to make the skirt. Sewed those 4 pieces together.

Took a strip of gingham material and folded it over twice and lined the top of the dress and pinned it in place. Carefully sewed it. I don't like my stitches to show, so I made sure I was very careful to get it straight.

Then I took a piece of gingham that and folded it to make the ruffle in front. I first sewed it upside down, then folded it down and sewed the back the back piece to the front of the dress. It gives it a little flare and covers my stitching. For the hem, I took 2 strips of gingham (about 50 squares high and the width of the material) and folded them once and sewed it to the dress.

For the straps, I took 2 pieces of gingham and sewed them together, then turned them inside out and sewed them to the dress. That's it! Took a few hours total and I did it while watching TV.

As far as hand sewing, I love it. It's relaxing and it gives me something to do with my hands while watching TV. My hands have to be busy all the time! I've tried using a machine several times in my life, but I HATE the bobbins, threading the machine, breaking needles, trying to keep the stitching straight, and most of the time my hems come out. I've made pillows and skirts when I was a teenager, and they were all crap, lol. With hand stitching, I know that what I'm sewing will never come undone and I can get it very precise. By the time I got the machine threaded and going, I could have had it hand sewed.

Last night I started on my oldest daughter's dress. We watched a couple of shows and I cut the material and pinned it together. This morning, while my girls were sleeping, I sewed what I had pinned. I have the front about done, just need to add another ruffle. Then I'll do the back and the trim. I should have it done tonight or tomorrow. I didn't want to do the same dress for her, because I hate sewing the same design twice, I want something new and different each time, so her dress will be a different design. Hopefully I can throw some bows together too, I've never made bows before, so I'm nervous! :cutie:
