I am trying to get a handle on exactly how things are on a packed cruise. Long lines? Hard to swim? Packed gift shops? How does a packed cruise compared to a busy Magic Kingdom?

A full cruise in no way compares to a crowded Magic Kingdom. You will experience lines to see characters and get pictures taken. Other than that, there is lots of room on the ship.

I've been on one totally full ship. Most of the time, when they say it is "full", there are still rooms available. For instance, the 2/7 Magic was listed as "full," but as of 2 days before, you could still book the trip in 6 different categories. In addition, a large section of the 7th deck was closed for renovations (starboard aft area, including the laundry room). Even with the ship totally full, there is plenty of room for all.

Hi,

Just for you to be aware: I would NOT go shopping the last night of the cruise!!! The shops are small & always brimming the last night!!! Never been on a packed cruise so I can't help there.

Remember that a cruise ship has a certain capacity and that it can't go beyond that. Everything is built to handle "that many" people (pools, restaurants, theater, etc.). In our 4 cruises, it never seems to have been much of an issue and at least some have been listed as full.

The shops are very crowded as soon as the show theatre lets out as the flow of people passes right past the gift shops. Again on the last night both Shutters and the gift shops are madhouses!!!

I second what kcashner said. It's no way like a packed crowd at MK. The crowds are 'regulated' as there are so many things to do at once. It's not as if one is waiting in line for Space Mountain.

We had a wonderful time on the Magic last year during spring break, and were told by Guest Services it was a full ship.:D

Actually if it weren't for the long lines for Characters, it wouldn't feel like it was crowded at all! It's just that when the kids want autographs and pictures, it can take a very long time!!

Our 3-night cruise last Memorial Day was completely sold out according to the CM at the check-in desk. Could have fooled me.

We always had a lounge chair or pool-side table when we wanted one, no wait at the breakfast buffets, plenty of seats in the bars, lots of beach equipment on CC, etc.

The only time we needed some elbow room was after dinner when we were searching for our pictures at Shutters. Oh, also, the kids said the Goofy pool was a little crowded, but that was ok cuz they were only killing time while they waited for a Club activity to start.

We also were on a full cruise in August, and I never felt, that it was crowded, we would stroll around the deck at night with no one in sight, it really was amazing.....
The ship is so huge, that it really felt comfortable.
