Can ANYONE recommend a packaging tape that doesn't get stuck to itself and require hours of trying to peel it back off the roll?

I think there's a special department in Hell where people are sentenced to use packaging tape for eternity. :earboy2:

I always try to fold a corner over when I'm done using packing tape without a dispenser. Otherwise, I use a dispenser.

I must be hopeless, because even WITH a dispenser, I have problems. ;)

Umm.. that's pretty hopeless. :rotfl2:

I foldover too, but sometimes, just as I'm about to fold it - it just gets away from me! So aggravating.

Indeed. And as disykat said, even when I fold over, it sometimes gets away from me - that's me - only it ALWAYS gets away from me. :)

I have the 3m packing tape that comes on a dispenser with a VERY sharp cutting edge. Works pretty nice, and in theory the tape edge is always supposed to stay up under the plastic guides thereby avoiding the lost edge effect that drives us all crazy. I've managed to lose the edge a few times though.

On a single roll of packing tape with no dispenser I cut a small piece off, about an inch or two. I fold it over itself so it is no longer sticky and then I stick that piece on the edge.

:rotfl: Just the title of this thread had me cracking up! :rotfl:

At work we stick a paperclip where the edge is, it seems to help.

Oh, no, no, no. It's not the packaging tape that's designed to make you crazy; it's CD cases! :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

LOL, I know your pain. It's all in the dispenser. We have a red one (Scotch) that works really well and catches the tape before it goes back on the roll...usually.

When we were moving I could never get the dispenser to work. I just pulled it off and worked with the roll. I am actually pretty good at not messing it up, but with the dispenser-thingy I just end up taping myself to the box. :rotfl2:

In my office, first off if you can FIND the packing tape that's supposed to be on my desk you get 10 points. If you can find where it starts well, you could be employee of the month! I'm one of those people who somehow always waste the first tear off the packing tape...kind of like a practice tape! It's maddening!! :p

Do they get Employee of the Year if they can find where it starts AND rip off the first piece in ONE solid piece the first time? I think they should. ;)

Not sure how much of this is in jest, but I can tell you the 3M tape adhesive is designed to activate once it's torn from the roll. That means it will come off the roll, but once it's been off the roll (even partially) it will stick to anything (inclusing itself) quite well.

Many people put more than one strip across the box, overlapping some of the first strip, which means they must make it stick to itself.
