I am trying to plan our next trip for October, 2005.

We want 8 nights hotel, 7 day MYW passes with hopper and Plus Pack, Dining Plan, air and ground transport for 2 Adults and 1 Child.

I priced it out on the Disney site and it gave me $2444. I called Sam's Club and asked for the same things and the price was $2971 and did NOT include ground transport from the airport! YIKES!! Who would have thought Sam's would be $500 HIGHER? Now I am waiting for a price from AAA. Can't be worse than Sam's, can it?

I doubt it.

Hang in there. I bet codes will come out for a discount in October. Also, Disney is going to have transportation to and from the airport starting in May, so hopefully that will be free or at least cheap.

The Disney package includes Magical Express from the airport and back. It is "free" in the sense that the package is the same price with it or without it. I am anxious to see the reports about Magical Express between May and October. Sure it sounds good, but how long will it take to go from the airport to the resort? Our flight will get in at 10 AM, but if we have to lose several hours sitting at the airport I will NOT be happy! Better to pay for a Town Car than lose half a day waiting on a bus. Same for going back to the airport. Are they going to ship us back to MCO 4 hours before our flight?

The only option Sam's was offering was the plain old Mears shuttle, at an additional cost to the package. So by the time we added in ground transport it would have been closer to $600 more!

I know we can get a better deal if I am patient. I was just shocked at the difference in price for the same items!

DH and I are also pricing packages for 8 nights Oct. 15-23 at Coronado Springs.. We want 7 day passes (will probably get base + hopping priviledges), and the dining option. We already have our flights booked (nonstop Newark to MCO) with free Sky Miles, so we're locked into those dates. I've gotten prices from DU and WDW (same quote) and waiting to see what AAA has to offer. Did you know that AAA is having a Disney World special that ends January 31? You can check the details on their website. I can't remember everything, but you do get a percentage off, AAA parking pass, and $25 Disney Dollars.

You have an OCtober vacation planned out (MYW plan, air fare, ground trans) and it only came to $2444? How? Mine comes to $4340 (MYW+dining at CBR, Air, and ground trans) for October 15 - 22, 2005.

On the Disney site I put in airfare (roundtrip from DFW to MCO), Magical Express, 8 nights at Pop, 7 Day tickets with Hopper and Plus Pack, and Dining Option. We have 2 adults and 1 child (age 9).

When I ran the package with a Mod resort it was over $400 higher.

Do you have more people in your group? Older kids? Higher airfare? We should both be in the same season because Value season ends 10/4 for all resorts as far as I can tell.

Since DS is only 9 his park pass is cheaper and his dining is cheaper.

But your price still seems REALLY high, even with all of those things taken into consideration. What is making your package cost $1900 more than mine? Did you do your stuff through the Disney site? I have been playing with different packages and "saving" the offers but I haven't put down any money yet. It says I have until Feb. 20 to take advantage of the offers.

Well on my package:

CBR - moderate resort
8days/7nights
2 - adults 1 - 10 yo (3 adults)
7day Park hopper
Dining plan
prefered room
magic plus pack option
$2900.00

Delta air flight - 4 seats
$1000.00

Enterprise Rent a car - Standard SUV w/collision ins
$450.00

My comment has nothing to do with the package deals but, GOOfyDad, I LOVE your GOH badge...it's so neat! :D

My AAA Package is as follows:

11/22/05-11/28/05

6 Nights - POFQ
Standard View
2 Adults-1 Child 4 Day Base Ticket
Dining Option
$1882.00

Plus

Song Airlines - $595

My AAA MYW package is:

Port Orleans Riverside - 2 adults
November 27 - December 4, 2005 (value season)
King bed, 7 day MYW tickets w/hopper option and MYW Plus Dining Plan
no insurance
$1,897.60
TOTAL SAVINGS: $231.64 (online Disney World package was $2,129.24)

We're planning on using the complimentary Magical Express.

plus we're looking at direct flights on ATA for $196.90 for one of us; I have a free companion ticket

:cheer2:

After reading Goofydad's post I was CERTAIN I had made some sort of mistake. Yes, I did! The mistake was this:

When Disney saves your offers they subtract your airfare back OUT! So the offers I was viewing had NO airfare in them! Increase my price by about $630 (the price for 3 round trip tickets on American).

So, Goofydad:
We aren't renting a car. We are doing Magical Express from the airport and then just using Disney transportation. Plus your child counts as an adult which increases JUST your dining costs by $200 over mine. And you are in a moderate resort which is about $400 more with no discount. And our air is cheaper. Not as cheap as not including it  but cheaper than yours.

Now I see that there really isn't a $500 difference in the Sam's package. I am going to look at AAA and see if we would save enough to be worth buying a membership. I may go ahead and put a deposit on a package now and then cancel it as we get closer and codes come out. The only part of the January AAA package that would be beneficial to us is the $25 Disney Dollars. We don't need a parking pass.

Whew! Okay. I thought I was getting a real raw end here. LOL At least I know it is this high because of what it is that I am getting.

Hopefully I can lower my airfare. Delta is supposed to plummet it prices shortly. (not sure when or why) Maybe then I can get them really cheap. :)

My AAA package:

7 nights CBR standard (11-30 thru 12-07)
2 adults, 1 JR (15), 1 child (8)
7 day MYW w/park hopping
Dining package
Magical express

2555.54

The AAA discount is just over $200.

Plus $25 in Disney Dollars for booking in January.

It took me forever to find a AAA agent who got this right- my local agents kept quoting me prices around $3000 and refused to believe I knew what I was talking about when I said it was too high.

That is a good point to remember, that Disney does NOT save any air arrangements if you save a quote. I suppose that has to deal with them checking availablility (and fares) for the flight when you actually commit to the package.

In my case, Disney's quote for the flight was actually lower than Delta's quote. I know there are cheaper flights available through Delta, but I wanted the non-stop that gets me to Orlando in the morning, and doesn't leave Orlando till the evening.

Question for anybody who has purchaed air arangements through WDTC, do I just show the purple e-ticket receipts to the check-in desk at the airport? I could not find the 6 character code that I typically use at the self service check in kiosk.

I can get a rate of $210.90 per ticket round trip, non-stop on American on the flights I want. It doesn't seem to matter who I book through, so I will most likely book straight with the airline. But I won't be booking air until I am SURE we are going and I have the dates nailed down tight. Those cheap tickets aren't cheap anymore if you try to make changes!

The thing that threw me about the Disney quotes I had saved was that it lists the components of your package along with a price. But the price is without air! So it SAYS airfare, but it doesn't mean it is included in the price. The price is just for your hotel, tickets, and dining. And it keeps factoring in the price for trip insurance even though I keep taking it out! Annoying.
