I have the option to do either, but not sure which one would be better :teacher:.

3 Adults, 5 Nights/ 6 Days :santa:
Dec 08- 13,2013
Resort: POR
Package or just book the room and hope for a discount.
I have never booked anything this far out. So for those of you who have, was it easier just to roll everything together or do a room only reservation. Your opinion please ::yes::. TIA

Since there are no package deals for that time period right now - I'd just go ahead with a room-only reservation to get the hotel booked. All you need is a 1 night deposit. You can always modify the reservation later - add a room-only discount if one comes out, or convert to a package by adding tickets (and dining if desired). I find it easiest to start basic -- getting the resort of choice -- and then add-on as deals come or not.

Enjoy your vacation!

Just want to add that if you decide later to change to a vacation package to take advantage of an offer, or to add the dining plan, you can't just convert your existing reservation. You would have to cancel your current reservation and they would refund the deposit. Then you would have to make a new reservation for the package with a new $200 deposit. The previous deposit can't be rolled over- it has something to do with different booking codes.

If you plan on doing dining regardless of if it's free then I'd book the pkg. You can always get a room discount on the room portion of a package where you can't make a room only a pkg without cancelling and making another reservation with a new deposit

fyi probably won't be free dining that week next year as it's more than likely Pop Warner week

Also remember that even though you have the room reserved if a special becomes available you are not guaranteed to the same room category or resort. With each special they only allow some many rooms in each category and once those are sold they will not add any more.

There's no real benefit to booking this far out unless you have a particular limited room category you want and you don't care if you get a discount.
If you want a discount, then you should wait until discounts are released before booking.

If at some point, you book airfare, or otherwise get locked into particular dates, then go ahead and book whatever works for you, knowing that if any discounts are released, you might have to switch room categories or resorts entirely in order to qualify, or that nothing will be available for your dates at all.

I was told AllStarSports,CBR,POR(POFQ overflow),Most of the time at Values resorts. But as the time gets closer I would check here(DISboards), to find out for sure.

Thanks for the info, we are going 11/28 - 12/2 so I will keep checking. Thinking of Pop to hopefully avoid them.

I would just book the room for now, as well. If a room only discount is released later you could always apply it to your existing reservation. If a package discount is released you could always switch later. At least you know that your room will be reserved if you book now.

MMS1125, Pop Warner week is Dec 01 - Dec 07,2013.

pretty sure it's the week after since the 1st is a sunday and the activities from what I have researched usually start the first Saturday in December. 2013 calendar matches 2002 and in 02 it was Dec 8-14

MMS1125, I'm just passing along the information that the CM gave me.

no problem. I'm not arguing or saying I'm right or wrong since there's conflicting dates all over the place. I guess we'll find out when Pop Warner actually posts their dates on their website. Wouldn't be the first time a CM has given wrong information though if it ends up being the 8-14

Keep in mind that there may already be AAA discounts available for that time. You can call the regular Disney reservations number and find out the rate with any available AAA discount. We booked a few months back for January and got about 15% through AAA (booked directly with Disney) for Polynesian and BLT. I know a friend was able to get the same discount for April. If a better room discount comes out through Disney later, you can always switch. (We don't do the dining plan or free dining, so we get our tickets from Undercover Tourist instead of booking a package.)

MMS1125, I hope the CM is correct:wizard:, because hearing a bunch of Cheerleaders cheering all day and the boys running around yelling is enough to drive anyone crazy:faint:.

I'm go'in either last of Nov to the first of Dec or after the 15 :(

UPDATE:
I just rec am email from Pop Waner via "The Disney Team":
The dates for the Pop Warner Super Bowl are currently 12/5 - 12/15 in
2013.

Thank You,

Team Disney

Guess the parade taping will be the 7th then which is the first Saturday in Dec? I honestly couldn't see Disney having PoP Warner starting the weekend the Thanksgiving crowd is leaving. Glad that's resolved :) Have a good trip
