It seems like I remember someone saying to avoid packages because the roundtrip tix are always for some wierd time and they won't refund your money or they will change your flight times on you at the last minute.........any experience with this??

A co-worker did a package thru AAA last year. One of their party had to back out, and someone else took her place. They would not just change the plane ticket. She had to buy another one and got a voucher for the first one. Amt of voucher was less the change fee that the airline charged, maybe $75 or $100?

IF you want to do a package, I'd see about doing airfare seperately. If you can get flights on Southwest, lots of times you can change those w/ no penalties.

However, I think you would do a lot better on price by buying everything seperately and skipping the package if you don't mind doing a little leg work hunting up room discounts,

Well, this is where it gets hard. The best we have been able to do for ASmovies is $86 total per night because there aren't any rooms available with AAA discount. If I knew that there was such a thing as running out of discounted rooms, rather than make our ressies 8 months in advance, I would've made them even earlier. We are only looking at the package because it includes food. At first, we were saying that we would allow $100/day for meals. That's eating something quick in the hotel room in the morning and getting something at WDW during the day and probably food court for dinner. We are a family of four. Someone told me that there is no way to do it for only $100 a day, so then I started to think that I hadn't planned too well and that we were gonna spend a mint on food(we like to eat)and since that package included all-you-can-eat buffets, I thought that it might be worth it. I dunno. I have been researching and monkeying around for this trip for over a year and we're not even excited anymore. It's so much hassle unless you've got lots of money and can just do it and not have to think about it!!

Have you checked mousesavers for any of the discount codes? I wouldn't necessarily rely just on the AAA discount(which isn't much)

You can eat great on a $100. a day[many have done it for much less!!]with just a little pre planning!!
AllEarsNet has menu's and prices for most all the eateries in all 4 parks and resorts and Downtown Disney, and the Water parks!!
Check it out

Plus there are ton's of tips to save money I'll hit the high points and then if you do a search late in the evening[search works better then] you find tons of info.

1. Eat breakfast in your room. Pop tarts, bagels and cheam cheese, cereal and milk.

2. Eat at counter restaurants that have add your own condiment bars. Instead of putting the lettice on your burger put it to the side and make a salad to go with your burger.

3. WDW meals are big enough to share one idea is to order a double cheese burger then open it so you have bun, burger cheese and now you have 2 open face cheese burgers.

4. Pick 1 or 2 character meals to do during your trip. Chef Mickey is a good choice for a first day or last day meal because it is at the Contempary Resort so you don't need to use a hopper day to go there to eat.

5. Don't pay for fench fries if you won't eat them WDW will take a $1.00 off of a burger and fries.

6. Eat off site, there are many restaurants very close that offer less expensive food

If you need more ideas just ask!

Thank you. Very good advice, but I have been checking mousesavers and maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but all the codes that I have found are only for : Florida residents, military personnel, people with a membership to a Disney club of some sort, senior citizens, etc. I haven't found anything that I can use beyond the AAA stuff. We are just an average family of four in NY state that doesn't have any of those discount cards because this will be our one and only trip to Disney. Also, I guess that the reason that I got to thinking that $100 wouldn't be enough is because the prices are so horrendous. I mean a burger and fries are $10 without the drink at most places, so by the time you add a drink, taxes, and tip, well it looks like just a quick lunch will be $50 or more. If we want to get buffet....the same stuff you can get here for $7.99 a person costs $20 per person at Disney and times four people, then tax and tip again and you have spent $100!! I also don't know how much we can pack in our luggage food wise. Are the baggage compartments air conditioned? I certainly don't want poptarts melted all over the place. Also, someone said that food will set off alarms at the airport? I know I seem like I am worrying about alot, but this is our first time, and we are prob going to fly and we haven't even been on a plane before, so................well I'm a bit nervous about EVERYTHING!! Thanks...........
