Package add on or AAA discount? the least exp way to play???

Here's the deal- My boys and DH have 2 day hoppers & water parks passes left from past trips.

We want to squeeze in a weekend trip- arriving Friday- 4/4 and leaving Monday - 4/7.

Mom needs a 2 day ticket- I would like to have a hopper so we could hit the coasters in the parks- I hate to waste the hopper option from the guys tickets as it costs more then the regular tickets- so do we waste that hopper option and just get Mom 2 day one park tickets or ????.

The code special states that everyone in our group has to buy a 1 day ticket to get the ticket upgrade deal. We have already bought the one day tickets twice in the past and that is why we have extra tickets for the guys. So, I only need the ticket for myself-

1. Would it be less expensive to book a room and 2 day tickets with the free upgrade to hopper for Mom ?

I wouldn't list the guys on the room resi as they already have tickets and we are still with-in the room occ. allowence- also, there is no extra person charges as the boys are still free to stay in the room with an adult because of their ages, and, there are no early/late extra magic hours for the dates and parks that weekend to make each of us need a room key- and we just don't need to keep buying extra tickets.

2. Would it cost less for me to use the AAA discount on the room rate and buy a 2 day hopper for Mom?

We would like to stay at either Pop or POR-

Lots of questions- mostly how to do this weekend and pay the best rate for the trip- we just dropped mega $$$ at the Contemporary over New Year's Eve weekend and then dropped more $$$ when we switched resorts to the AKL concierge level for 7 more days so no worries over the 1 day tickets rules as we have already paid for the guy's tickets and ADDED the no expiration option- more $$ again!

TIA- I just can't figure out the least expensive way to do this weekend- DS 11, waited to get his nerve up to tackle Space Mtn.- waited until the last night at the parks and the darn ride shut down and didn't reopen. So he was a bit sad- we "heard" that SM was going down for refur. in May for like a long time - 2 years? - so we wanted to get a ride in on it before then for DS- AND Mom and Dad never have to really have a good reason to go to WDW anyway but this seemed like a fun idea.

Bottom line- least expensive way to do this???

I think you'd be better off paying AAA rates for room-only and buying only the ticket(s) that you need.

CRO (407) WDISNEY is very helpful and they will price it out all different ways for you. Explain what you have and what you need and see what happens. Availability might be limited at that time anyway, so you might not have a choice. To book a room at AAA rate, you need to have your AAA # handy.

ETA: It's hard for me to follow what you mean by wasting PH options on their tickets, very confused. How many parks do you plan to visit in 2 days?

My Dh and boys already have two day tickets with the PH/water parks options left over from a past trip.

So, do I buy only the one park per day basic ticket for myself and just let those PH options go by the wayside or do I pay extra and get the PH option added on my tickets so we can stay together and all hop.

We paid for the PH option on the exsisting tickets, however, if I buy one day /one park admission for myself and we stay together as a family then we waste those Ph tickets- and- have to pick which park we want to visit on each day instead of hitting all of the big thrill rides.

We want to ride a few favorites from all four parks ( - MK- all 3 Mtns, POC, HM ), ( EPCOT- MS, TT, Soarin, SE ), ( DS- RR, TT, ST ), and ( Animal Kingdom- EE, CDTE, PW, KS ) so we would devote 1/2 day per park = two full day admission tickets.

We've done this before and it is very doable if you are at the parks at opening time and don't spend time at TS locations then stay until the parks close for the day.
The last time we went for a quick weekend trip, we hit MK and DS one day, then -AK and EPCOT the next- on the day we are leaving to drive home- about a 7 hour drive ) we will hit BB in the morning and then leave after lunch so the kids sleep most of the way home.

So, I guess I need to see if I can get the deal with the water and PH added for free.

That would be a package for your whole family. If you can do that, you would then save those 3 park hoppers for another trip. I may be wrong about this, but that package might be only available for minimum-night stay?

I suspect it would cost less out of your pocket now to buy AAA rate room only and one 2-day PH, but then you would have to figure the cost of "spending" the other tickets. Hmmm, tough. Now I get your dilemma.
