Can we take the pack n play to castaway cay with us?

I would like to corral the 10 month old and provide a good nap space.

Or do you think we should just lug our own and take our own pack and play to the beach?

Another unrelated question:

We will have 4 rooms on the Dream in October, 2011.

Can all of our room keys be coded to open any of the rooms to which we are registered?

I posted these questions yesterday.... but dont know where they went???

Not sure about the pack n play. Your post yesterday probably got pushed to another page by more active threads.

As of right now, a KTTW can only be encoded to open a single door. It may change in the future but I doubt it as it is probably a security measure.. You can go to Guest Services on the current ships and they will issue "blank" keys that will open another room. They are just plain white, not decorated like the KTTW. I would assume that service will continue on the Dream. Not sure exactly how many you can get.

I'd take your own for the use on castaway cay. I don't think DCL would like their pack and plays sanded up when they have to reuse them for another guest.

No, your room keys CAN NOT be coded to open more than one room. You can however get extra keys at guest services.

That would work. :thumbsup2

I would have cleaned it like it was my own. I wouldnt want sand in my room after returning from the beach either. But I guess to be on the safe side, I'll bring my own.

A different idea: if you are bringing a stroller maybe the baby can sleep in that? When we went to Mexico when DD was almost 2, we brought the stroller, laid it all the way down, put a towel over it so it was dark and had a little fan and she slept every day like that. BUT, that was with the big Graco stroller, which we will not be bringing with us.

They have wagons for use on Castaway Cay. There are a bunch of them in an area along the path once you get off the boat. (And we did not rush to get off the boat and there were still plenty of wagons available.) They are large and fold down to a flat bottom. My almost 2 year old slept great in it under a beach umbrella. We padded the bottom with towels, etc.

wagons!! hmmm.this might be great for me...I'll have to do some research on that..thanks for the tip @ ktc42spike

The wagons and the stroller is a good idea.

I could use the wagon to roll the pack n play to the beach.

I not only wanted the pack n play for naps but to keep the 10 month contained considering we will also be travelling with a 23 month old.

Thankfully there are extra adults along to help with the kids but I just remember when my children were little we had a travel size play pen that we took to the beach and it sure was handy.

Wow...mmm...I wouldn't.

We took a 4 month old. Used a wagon and stroller (with car seat base), that was enough stuff to deal with!

The stroller was just fine for the baby to nap in. It's quite a trek even from the ship to the tram stop (and folded strollers on the trams are hard enough- let alone a folded P & P!

And if you don't take the tram the walk would be REALLY long.

Personally I don't think it's worth it for you to bring your own to use in the room either as it may not fit. The one DCL provides is substantially smaller than the Eddie Bauer P&P we own.

I was wanting the pack n play more for Containment vs naps.

I emailed DCL. No you can not take the one off the ship.

I checked the Pea Pod and then looked at the Graco Travel lite.

Graco's product weighs in at 20 pounds. Is much smaller than the regular pack n play and even smaller than the one the cruise line provides.

So I will strap it to my luggage roller. Roll it to the beach. Shake it out, wash it off after our day of play and roll it back to the boat.

We are a travel party of 11 people. ages 10 months, 32 months, 44,46,63, 20,20,20,22,15,17.

I want to contain the 10month old from making an unseen dash to the water or eating sand or foreign objects.

So I have decided to go with the Graco product.
