Pacific Coastal Cruises (Van-SanDiego etc.) - Ocean Conditions Vs Florida

My wife and I were on the May 2016 San Diego to Vancouver cruise. The second night out was pretty rough, I spoke to one of the officers the next day, he said it was rougher than it normally gets. The rest of the trip was fine. it was fairly cool the whole trip, definitely not shorts weather. By the last day, Sunday, it started getting warmer and sunnier. That being said, there is no where else in the world I would rather be than back on a DCL cruise, no matter the weather or waves.

My first cruise was the Vancouver-LA repo in 2012. The second night leaving Victoria there was a storm and even the crew was seasick, many of the crew said it didn't help that they'd been in the protected inside passage of AK for several months, rest of the cruise was smooth. 2nd cruise was Pacific Coast, seas were smooth. Cruises 4 & 5 were SD-Cabo, it was smooth most of the time, one of the members of my extended party did feel a little seasick but we think it had to do with their cabin placement and sensitivity that particular cruise as the next one they were fine.

Pacific is unpredictable and varies (although I've heard from several people the Hawaii cruises were consistently rough for those with sensitive stomachs ... and when I lived/worked in Hawaii at a location the cruise ships tender to, many confirmed that), but I've had great luck so far that only 1 of the cruises I've been on out of 4 have been worse than my Caribbean (or Aegean) cruises.
