Hoping someone can help with a pacemaker/defibrillator question ...
I'm travelling to wdw world with my Mom next month and she has a pacemaker and defibrillator. Not sure about the correct terminology here but she also has a "box" that records data about her heart function. Occasionally, she has to report this data to her doctor via a phone connection. Has anyone had to do this using a disney resort room phone? Do the room phones work reliably for this process? TIA

I don't know that anyone has specifically asked or answered this question before, but the room phones are standard phones. So, unless she needs a specific type of phone, it should work fine.

Her doctor mentioned that some hotel phones don't work well. It might have something to do with dialing a number, like 8, before you get another dial tone to make an outside, long distance call. I can't remember if you just pick up and dial using Disney room phones or if you have to dial a number first. Hopefully, someone has tried it and can let me know. :goodvibes Thanks!

daughter has same and reported from Give Kjds The World but I do not remember how she did it. think she just used her cell phone as she normally did from home as she only uses cell, no land line. also could have just waited until we returned home. we had no problems while there other than people who felt she should hold her young son when she did not on crowded buses by dr orders. did warn people on buses to not be touching her as if her unit shocked her anyone touching her would also be shocked. we didget looks as daughter was on 36 when she had heart attack

Would I pay phone work? I think I recall seeing some around hotels. It might be $$$ though

Disney World hotel phones have printed on them
local calls = touch 9 + area code + number

Long distance = touch 8 + 1 + area code + number

Thanks SueM! I got a chance to go see my Mom yesterday, look at her set up and.....wait for it.... read the the manual :)! It doesn't actually plug into the phone; it plugs into the wall jack. I also talked to a tech at the company that manufactures the device and I think we'll be ok! Thanks for your help everyone! This is an outstanding board!:thumbsup2

Funny - if in doubt, read the manual :thumbsup2

The phones have the one port that the phone line plugs into - that is a standard phone port and can be removed easily, the same as any other phone.
There may also be data ports on the phone where something can be plugged into the phone (probably remnants of when people used dislike up internet). The newest resorts might not have those.
If she needs to actually disconnect the phone from the wall and plug a wire into the wall plug, she may have a bit more difficulty. Most of those jacks are behind furniture, so may not be as easy to get to.
