Kudos to the undisputed king of smilies, Ponzie. And love the photoshopped goodies, too.

Great last chapter, Nebo. It had everything - we laughed, we cried, we chewed our nails in fear!

I've loved reading this TR and am so sorry to see it end.

Wow. Not a great ending to the trip to say the least huh? I am so sorry that you two had to endure so much on this trip, but it warms my heart that the two of you could still tell the story with so much humor and positivity. Nebo and Smidgy rock!

So, when does the next TR start? :rolleyes1

I found your tr about 2 weeks ago and it took me that long to read it. Just wanted to say thanks for the entertainment although I'm sorry your trip home ended up the way it did. I'm sad that this tr is over... Now what am I going to read?! :confused3.

I guess I'll have to read your old tr's. Thanks for posting on the dining board or I never would have found a Nebo report!

What!?!? It's over already??? I'm not prepared for it to end. So you will have to milk it a little more. Ok?

I think we have almost made the decision to move to POP for 7 nights. DH didn't really want to but it's only because we've only ever stayed in values and he knows how much I want to do a mod. So it's nebo and ponzi's fault if we don't have a good time. ;)

Glad you made it home in one piece. It is a lot of fun chilling on the side of the road waiting for help. At least when we waited our help actually helped...:lmao:

 Mon Dieu! you endured so many highs and lows and some of my driving nightmares that trip.....and you survived.:thumbsup2:goodvibes .......what doesn't kill us makes us stonger? :tinker:says "All future trips will be nothing less than magical"

Yet another GREAT trip report!! Thank you for sharing your life and adventures with us. You two are an extraordinary and entertaining couple. Ya know, you should put together a book of short stories consisting of your trip reports, I know I'd buy it.:)

I'll be eagerly awaiting your next adventure;)

@ pkondz.. I was just curious which Photoshop program you use?

Time to move on I guess Sandy, whatchgonnado?

Yes, and you just keep rolling your eyes,,, I'm talked out for a while now, but I still have to do an Afterward, couple of things to mention yet.

I found your tr about 2 weeks ago and it took me that long to read it. Just wanted to say thanks for the entertainment although I'm sorry your trip home ended up the way it did. I'm sad that this tr is over... Now what am I going to read?! :confused3.

!

thank you for joining us, hopefully next timie you can get in near the beginning.

What!?!? It's over already??? I'm not prepared for it to end. So you will have to milk it a little more. Ok?

You should know better than to use the phrased "milk it" around me.

I think we have almost made the decision to move to POP for 7 nights. DH didn't really want to but it's only because we've only ever stayed in values and he knows how much I want to do a mod. So it's nebo and ponzi's fault if we don't have a good time. ;)

I didn't know that you have never stayed in a mod,,,, that may change the equation,,,a "first time" comes really close to trumping the quality vs. quantity formula. I would compromise somehow,,,, stay 6 nights at either CS or CBR, and scratch the water park tickets, the cost will then be close and you'll have the nice pools at the resorts instead to go to that also have slides unlike the values! YES!:cool1:

Glad you made it home in one piece. It is a lot of fun chilling on the side of the road waiting for help. At least when we waited our help actually helped...:lmao:

Good Dude help is hard to find.

 Mon Dieu! you endured so many highs and lows and some of my driving nightmares that trip.....and you survived.:thumbsup2:goodvibes .......what doesn't kill us makes us stonger?

What doesn't kill us makes us poorer.

@ pkondz.. I was just curious which Photoshop program you use?

I don't know what program he uses either, but it seems to come with an unlimited photogallery of nebo pictures.

:scared1: WOW!! OMG, I would have been freaking out over the tire going flat. I am really glad I read this, I always worry and wonder what I would do in that situation. I will now think "remember what Nebo" did if that ever happens to me.

I am so sorry you had all these issues on your trip . I am still really bummed that we will be missing you guys in May. Thank you so much for sharing your trip and your lives with us.

thanks Tracy, but I enjoyed writing them too, just as you do. It is a shame we'll miss each other though. And don't be offended if next time we drive, I choose to avoid your neighborhood and take the Indiana route instead.

What a sweet ending!:thumbsup2:lovestruc

Sweet? Me write sweet? I don't do sweet, you take that back!

YOU MADE IT! Oh wait, that was obvious from the beginning of the trip report. :lmao:

Wouldn't it have been a cool plot twist if we had both died in a fiery crash? And it was my son doing the writing of this report, taking over for me.

Are you gonna write a wrap-up? Pretrip? Don't leave us yet!

In a couple days I'll wrap it, I guess, then, we'll see.
No, I don't like being finished either, but over is over. Hey, Ponzi gets to come out firing one last time still.

:faint: Now I am panicking about driving in August:scared1:

Love the ending....so when does the next one start??????

Stop it Janet,, nothing to worry about, and if things DO go wrong, just refer to this tome as a do it yourself manual, it must be covered in here somewhere.

Another wonderful trip report Nebo. I always enjoy your trip reports and I can't wait for the next one. You certainly do have your adventures, don't you?

Thank you Angel, but realy, they are Smidgy's adventures, I just happen to be along with.

Home sweet home! I'd say AAA is a lifesaver but sounds like you saved your own life and "dude" just brought the jack.

guess what came yesterday?
My renewal notice to AAA.

I'm thinking of joining AA instead!

:rotfl: Not offended at all, we can't stand I-57 either. I am nervous every time I drive on it. When we go to St. Louis, we take a different route.

Dickens said it best, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". What a ride! Thank goodness you made it, and we all got to read about it! Great report, and like everyone else I hate to see it end.

I don't know if it made national news, but we had some terrible accidents on I-75 here in Gainesville last month. 11 people lost their lives.:sad2: The cause - smoke and fog. People were driving along at 70+ and hit total blackness. Scarey stuff!

Please let us know when you start your PTR for your next trip ;)

Oh my word! What a doozy of a final chapter! :scared1:

Nebo, I gotta say you reacted as cool as a cucumber in responding to the blown tire. That was some slickly cool driving there! You think you might be available in 10 years or so to teach DS to drive?

I wanted you guys to get home so badly without any further beastly interactions. I completely get your decision to risk the aluminum tube of death. I can't believe the number of vehicular issues in one trip, not to mention some of the other emotionally draining events you faced on this trip. The vehicle stuff alone makes the Brazilians from a few trips back and the extreme cold of the December trip look like child's play! :sad2:

Watchgonnado? Please find something to wax eloquent about! What do you plan on doing in April/May? What do you think Jackson will enjoy most at Disney? What rides will be among his favorites?

It's just sad to say a "See ya real soon" to such a great friend! And you know it's not just you, it's Smidgy, Pkondz, Marita, Thumper Man and wife, Jakeybake, orangecat, Marie, and everyone else on this thread. You guys are all awesome! :grouphug:

But Nebo, man, you are the heart and soul of this thread and the DIS just isn't the same without an open Nebo thread. :sad1:

yes nowells (everytime I read your name, I want to sing christmas songs) , I read about those terrible crashes on 75. how scary is that?!?

that is just how we felt on the way down, with the storm.. never been so scared in all mylife.

when nebo screamed at me to stop looking at the map and help him see.."tell me what you see!""" me: "OK! I see.. NOTHING! gray! that's it!"

when we got off, then got back on again for a SHORT while, and he said "get me OFF this thing!" I was so gald he knew when to say "enough is enough". I can't believe anyone continued driving on that that day. rather dtay over night, or drive on a state route (like we did)

BUT: this blowout!! if it had been me driving, we would either be dead, maiamed, or at the least, bumps and bruises, a couple broken bones, and a totalled Santa Fe!

I cant' believe how CALM nebo is in a emergency! (or seems to be)... he just does what needs to be done. !:thumbsup2

I can't believe he decides what needs to be done in a few short miliseconds, and then does it!!!:woohoo::yay:

He is MY HERO!!!:worship::worship:

(ok, honey, is that what you wanted me to write? did I get it right? just joking!!) seriously, I would never have thought about the roling over stuff, I probably wold have panicked and stopped short, causing a pile up.

funny, though, our first trip to florida, ever, in the old staion wagon with the wood grained sides,(with our sons, ages,10 and 13) we had a blow out in Indiana. and Nebo handled it remarkably.

and here we go again. he's still got it!!!:dance3:

nice to have you all here, enjoying this trip with us.. you guys kinda become like family to us after a while.:grouphug: like nebo says, he will wrap things up, and hopefully, post a very important picture (to me).

love you guys!!! really, I do!!!

Unbelievable!
Terrifying!
Nail biting!!
Need-A-Fresh-Change-Of-Underwear?
Brave!!
Counting blessings!!
Grateful!!

Thank you for sharing with us, and thank you, God, for watching over you!!
Dawn!

Ha HA! Now who's memory is going? I told you when we talked on the phone that we had never stayed in a mod. You then said how we would love POFQ since it is a step up from the values. And we aren't really pool people either so it didn't really matter about the slide. I may have to call you again to rehash all this where to stay nonsense... Anyway, which mod has the best slide? DH liked the look of CSR the best.

I wasn't even trying to be funny when I told you to milk it but that was funny. :rotfl2:

Man did I fall far behind!!

Thanks for almost putting me back in the hospital with another round of chest pains! That was scary to read, I can't imagine what it was like to actually go through it, and then to have it rain on you on the side of the road was just the perfect ending. It sounded like a summer action movie!

Look at it this way, things went so wrong on that trip that there is no way that they could possibly go anywhere near that wrong ever again. Actually scrap that, I forgot who I was talking about for a second!!

Very sad that the TR is basically over. Hopefully you have a nice wrap up left in you!

Jay

@ pkondz.. I was just curious which Photoshop program you use?

Right now, with the 'puter troubles I've had I'm still using Photoshop CS2. But will be upgrading to CS5 in the next few days/weeks. CS6 is coming out but you can't go from 2 - 6, you can only go three up.

So there you go. :)

Kudos to the undisputed king of smilies, Ponzie. And love the photoshopped goodies, too.

blush-anim-cl.gif
Thanks! But I only find the smileys, somebody else does all the hard work of making them.

What!?!? It's over already??? I'm not prepared for it to end. So you will have to milk it a little more. Ok?

No! Don't go there!!!! :scared1:

I think we have almost made the decision to move to POP for 7 nights. DH didn't really want to but it's only because we've only ever stayed in values and he knows how much I want to do a mod. So it's nebo and ponzi's fault if we don't have a good time. ;)

Gulp! The pressure!
Okay. Didn't know that you'd never been to a mod (and you didn't talk to me on the phone... or did you? My memory's not what it used to be either... wait, was it ever? Don't remember). I still say 7 days at Pop instead of 5 at POFQ. Five is just too short IMHO. If you were deciding between the two and the time period was longer, i.e. 10 days at POFQ or 12 days at POP, I would probably go with POFQ. A longer stay implies more down time. More down time implies more time at the resort. More time at the resort implies... I want a nicer resort! Mind you I'd pick POR over POFQ.

In a couple days I'll wrap it, I guess, then, we'll see.
No, I don't like being finished either, but over is over. Hey, Ponzi gets to come out firing one last time still.

And I'll be working on that as soon as I've posted this.

funny, though, our first trip to florida, ever, in the old staion wagon with the wood grained sides,(with our sons, ages,10 and 13) we had a blow out in Indiana. and Nebo handled it remarkably.

Two blowouts? I had one when I was learning to drive.

I was 16 driving home from the lake in DDad's van with my DDad, DMom and DSis. I guess since it was basically a straight highway, my DDad (who normally does all the driving) figured it'd be a safe test.

It happened in a split second. A car pulled up beside us and the driver? passenger? Don't remember. Somebody inside was pointing at the back of the van. I said, "Somebody in the car beside us is pointing at us." Simultaneously, my DMom or DSis says, "Something smells like it's burning". <BANG!> The right rear tire blows, my DDad starts swearing his head off, DMom yells something like, "Do something!!" and DSis screams. I check my rear mirror, ease off the gas, check the side mirrors, shoulder check, signal a right turn, gently apply pressure to the break, move onto the shoulder and stop. DDad jumps out to check the damage, DMom stares at me and says, "How did you know to do that??"

I guess I've always felt that in an emergency, I don't have time to panic. There's stuff that has to be done first. Once it's done then I'll worry about it, but right now, I just don't have time.

I'd be real curious though, how many other people reading this have even had one blowout.

nice to have you all here, enjoying this trip with us.. you guys kinda become like family to us after a while.:grouphug: like nebo says, he will wrap things up, and hopefully, post a very important picture (to me).

Ooh. Now you got me real curious. I wonder what this pic is?

love you guys!!! really, I do!!!

I'm pretty sure we all love you too. Well, I'm a guy and it might be weird if I say that to Nebo... Not that there's anything wrong with that... Umm... And if I say that just to you Smidgy, Nebo's gonna come up here to the frozen north and bury me in a snowbank... so... ummm....

Oh, what the heck. We love you guys too! :goodvibes

Like Dude, is it really over? Like, I was hoping this would never end. What a total bummer dude. So like dude, what am I like going to do now? Like wow dude, unreal. Like I hope you do another one, cuz dude, your writing is like totally awesome. :thumbsup2

Ok. I'm annoying myself now. Is that possible? :confused3

When you said the beast wasn't done with you yet, my first thought was "Oh man, the guys at the Car Care Center really screwed up. They didn't fix the exhaust right and the Santa Fe broke down. The had to hitchhike 50 miles (with a potential axe murderer) to the nearest town to call for help." I wasn't too far off actually. Instead of an axe murderer, you got surfer boy. Don't know which is worse.

Just curious, did you call the place you bought the tires from and have them give you a new one? After all, the tires were brand new and all. Defective tire. The least they could do is give you a new tire.

You should've gotten the umbrella. You could've performed the "Singing In The Rain" routine. This time really in the rain. Bet you would've gotten more people to stop that way.

Thanks for another great Smidgy and Nebo adventure. It's been fun singing, answering trivia questions, providing old movie quotes and songs, and touring WDW with you two. Too bad there won't be an April TR. That's ok though, I know a break is in order. Hope you consider at least giving us a chapter or two how that trip went. Mostly let us know if you got hurt or not. I'm considering sending pm's to all your readers to start a pool to see if there was blood shed or not.:rolleyes1

On a side note, you know DW and I are going to Orlando in December. We're going for 2 weeks. Most of that trip will be spent at our timeshare. The last 5 days or so we were hoping to stay on-site at Universal. Mostly for my sister's sake. She's going along and prefers US over WDW. Looking at prices over the weekend, we're actually now considering staying on-site at WDW. Either CS or CBR. They were priced about the same as the Universal hotels. One thing that is starting to lean us towards WDW is that we won't have to pay for parking like we would at US. And WDW is a little cheaper at the moment. We'll have to decide soon. I'll be in touch with by pm to get more of your opinions. We're leaning a little more towards CBR as it's closer to Epcot. I'll let you know if we decide to onsite or not. We'll be staying on-site some where. That much I know.

Looking forward to your August trip TR, the trip with Jackson. When are you going again? If you start a pre-trip report, DW and I will be absent for a week. Going to DL the last week of August.

Here's one last song.

:rockband:

We got Walt Disney fever, hotter than a pepper sprout,
We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson, ever since we first found out.
We're goin' with Jackson, we're gonna show him around,
Yeah, we're goin' with Jackson,
Look out Mickey Mouse.

Well, go on down with Jackson; go ahead and enjoy yourselves.
Take him by the hand you big-baldin' man, just don't go hurt yourself,
You're goin' with Jackson; Be careful over there!
You're going with Jackson.
We'll all be waiting here.:grouphug:

nice to have you all here, enjoying this trip with us.. you guys kinda become like family to us after a while.:grouphug:

We love being able to enjoy the trip with you. Thank you for taking the time to share them with us. I know what you mean about family. You and Nebo are like the aunt and uncle we hardly get to see, but want to spend time with just to hear your about your WDW adventures. :goodvibes

like nebo says, he will wrap things up,

Gee Smidgy, does he really have to? Can't he just drag it on and on, and on, and on, and on, etc..

and hopefully, post a very important picture (to me).

Can't wait to see what he posts.

love you guys!!! really, I do!!!

We love you to. Nebo, maybe not so much; but you, nothing but love for you girl.

Ok, yes; we love Nebo to. :grouphug:
